Overall, the topic was an insight of possibilities and limitations for the Savannah campus.

As for SPORTS, we shall know more in the upcoming years with the classes being offered. If Savannah campus continues to not limit but expand those early Frosh and Soph Core classes then I can envision the Savannah Campus expanding and possibly transitioning in sports like tennis years down the road. If Savannah campus decides to limit those core classes and move more towards Grad study then the Savannah campus will just be a branch of the Statesboro main campus.

Either way, it's a win for Georgia Southern because it allows them to expand their brand while reducing competition of a neighboring University.

Personally, I like the Savannah campus as I've taken classes at Armstrong. It's a nice and safe area of Savannah with abundance amount of shopping and close proximity to I-95. I'd personally hope they expand Savannah campus with traditional Southern classes while offering more Grad level. Giving students the option to attend both campuses is a great thing. In addition, there's many more part time job opportunities in Savannah for students that pay better than Statesboro. I envision advertisement for Georgia Southern to drastically expand along I-95 and Savannah. Lot's of BLUE will come to the area!

Maybe merging with Savannah State is the next move? The campuses are 9 miles apart. The merger would add 3,000 students and add a football field in Savannah for Georgia Southern to play.
No, the HBCU's are not being merged.

I really think this is much to do about nothing. We'll see some changes in course offerings and offices move around, but the point of the mergers is to reduce overhead.

I agree. Don't see anything changing. Statesboro will always be the flagship undergrad campus.

Thanks. I was trying very hard to understand how all of that related SBC athletics.

quit your b1tching. There are always threads on here that have very little or nothing to do with SBC athletic. Don't want to read it? Don't.

Oh, but l’ll continue to express my views when I see things that do not have any to do with Sun Belt Conference sports. So if it displeases you and your jubilant cohorts, then, tough stuff. I know you’re immature with your silly “quit your bitching” comments.

Please explain how stating that some GS sports matches could be played in a city other than Statesboro in the future doesn’t relate to Sun Belt Sports.

Please explain how one of your most recent threads talking about how much you like some coach and you want South to hire him relates to Sun Belt Sports.

I don't see Savannah State as a candidate to merge. Too much politics with that University with their history as well.

College of Coastal Georgia will likely happen and would be beneficial to Georgia Southern. Glynco Federal law enforcement academy is located 3 miles north of their campus along with the growing population in Brunswick.

City of Brunswick is a rough area, but there's a lot of potential considering their port is 2nd to Newark, NJ on the east coast and located on I-95.

I haven't found any research if the campus has the ability to expand like Statesboro, but I would assume there's possibilities. 60 miles from Jacksonville, FL airport isn't bad either.

Plus the city of Savannah would probably cut us a deal since a game like that would help boost their economy. You think Little Rock is making Arkansas pay an arm and a leg to host a game in their city every year?

Not true and and yes a little room which is the point a little room. Yes I am sure Sav govt well be bending over backwards to bring in three thousand people at best for a Sun Belt basketball game.

You think us hosting Duke or UNC in Savannah would only bring 3,000 fans max? That’s outrageously laughable.

About as outrageously laughable as getting Duke or UNC to give up a home game to play GS team away...

You JUST said in your OP “Unless it is for a big name like Duke or maybe a ThUGA game” so idk what you’re trying to argue with yourself for. I know you only come on here to argue anyway.

Actually based on recruiting last year and this one so far this is actually pretty true. We have a ton of players with only one offer from us or only FCS schools or in one case only from Valdosta State. Why I have no f'ing clue other than we have coaches stuck in the FCS mentality. It is beyond idiotic.

don't get that discussion going on our forum. Some posters over there believe every kid we recruit is a "hidden gem". A hidden gem that nobody else offered. It's pathetic.

Let me put it to you this way...we'll be fine unless we recruit worse than we did for many years as an FCS team.

These are the 3-star players on our 2014 Roster who started:
Jonathan Battle (injured for most of 2014)
Matt Dobson (safety)
Nardo Govan (H-back)
Jay Ellison (defensive lineman)
Darrius Sapp (defensive lineman)

This team went 8-0 in the Sun Belt and was maybe a top-10 G5 team.

Forgive me if I don't worship at the altar of recruiting rankings. 07-coffee3

Sounds like a pretty similar situation to the Texas State University Round Rock Campus. Leveraging a large population center about an hour from the main campus to increase enrollment in specific and needed fields such as nursing.

Students can earn a complete 4-year degree in nursing (as well as several other health profession degrees) at the RR campus. You can also get an MBA and a several other Bachelors/Masters degrees in RR.

Our RR campus is set up pretty nicely in that there's plenty of undeveloped land for future growth and it's directly between the Austin Community College RR Campus and St David's Medical Center...perfect place for a nursing school.

Sounds very similar to what they are trying to do with us. How has it worked out at Texas State? Have y'all noticed any negative impacts on your main campus such as decreased attendance and such?

Savannah State players packing heat!!!

Maybe in that case but Darton State merged with Albany State which is now Albany State.

You sure did get quiet...

RE: The Future of Georgia Southern is in Savannah
After seeing the most recent renderings of the new planned Statesboro south campus any growth in Savannah is welcomed and will only increase the overall footprint of GS. You could argue that if not for Savannah Statesboro would have it all but that's just not realistic given all that is planned for both campuses. I think folks in the Boro will "soon" stop complaining if that's their only concern and the Savannah campus could have a million acres of free land owned by the BOR and it wouldn't matter. They can grow beyond our wildest imagination and it wouldn't impact Statesboro.

Or laugh at silly posts like the future of GS is in Sav....

And you think your constant whining about and verbally attacking GS personnel isn’t silly?

So spin time after a silly post....do you need your safe space?
