They will transfer to the new stadium

I have heard that there is a rule against that.

One of those gold seats would be unique memorabilia for the license holder's man cave.

As explained in the Park Board letter (that I circulated at a radio show at Full Moon, Valley), the 2,571 Stadium Certificates are each for 2 prime location seats at any and all football games played by ANY teams at Legion Field and the legal rights are perpetual. No premium or other extra charge can be legally added above face value of a ticket. There is no present provision for transferring these rights to any other game site unless a new law is passed or a state court intervenes.
I would expect that when a new stadium is built, UAB will immediately begin charging a significant premium for purchasing the best seats there just as they do now for the best seats at Bartow Arena.

RE: No news, but downtown stadium prediction
SEC games are never, read never coming back. Give up on that dream
The BJCC plan includes renovating the entire complex to add additional convention space, bring the arena to NCAA tournament standards (that's something that *would* come back), and build the football stadium for less than a 75,000 seat "dome"
If you think ESPN wouldn't move the bowl game to a brand new yet smaller stadium you should delete your account, throw your computer in the river, and stop opining on this topic

It seems that Bowl attendance is down and will continue to trend that way. Not sure the bowl would even need 55,000 seats.

I wonder if Birmingham's bowl game would move up the pecking order for selecting teams if the game was held in a new stadium.

Good advice regardless.
It does NOT matter what I think, or what any on this forum thinks about ESPN moving the bowl game & the MCC to a new stadium. The people whose thoughts DO MATTER have not to date publicly committed to any site but Legion Field.
For the sake of UAB Blazer football, I hope a new stadium is available sooner rather than later. Until those two "visitor games" commit to switch from Legion Field though, the city is faced with the possibility of having to pay for both venues which may explain their reluctance to date to promise city money to the BJCC.

I would definitely say that having USF playing in Bham multiple years hurts attendance. The newness wore off and they hate the stadium. Attendance is much better when an SEC team is playing in it.

They aren’t going to continue to play a bowl game at legion field with 25,000 people in attendance with a new stadium right down the road.

And can we rename it to the Magic City Bowl instead of the Birmingham Bowl? "Birmingham Bowl" is like the government cheese of bowl games

The trophy for the Bowl Game this year was Vulcan. The Vulcan Bowl would be cool too.

"B'ham Bowl" was a fall back name adopted when the game lost its previous sponsors (Papa John, etc). As soon as they land another sponsor, it will probably be changed again. BTW, "Magic City Bowl" might be considered too close to "Music City Bowl" in Nashville. A "Vulcan Trophy Bowl" may be attractive and be all ours.
The dairy folks in Wisconsin liked the "government cheese Program" which assured them of a steady customer - just like the orange juice folks in Florida liked the government program that supplied juice to public school children.
