Showing how much BS this is, there are almost as many posts this week as there were a year ago when we first hired him. There was no buzz, no hype, and he stayed for what.....three weeks before going to the NFL?

Good luck to him, he's probably a good coach. But no skin off our backs at all.

The dude never even moved to Statesboro. Are we supposed to be jealous or something?

Seemed to whoop App's @$$ just fine without him 04-coffee

He will probably be better recruiting east coast kids for an east coast school, rather than a southern gulf school, don't you think? He's from Shelby which is probably about 105 minutes from Boone; the same small former industrial town as Jalin Moore. I would think even if he doesn't have that many ties to high school coaches that it won't be a tough sell. Same goes for Dorsey.

DJ Smith is just another Charlotte high school player who made it to the NFL so I imagine his reputation proceeds him among that areas coaches.

You Southern fans sound concerned. No more bashing the coaching staff and now simply bashing App fans for making light of nabbing a coach you didn't hold onto. This is a bit of a joke, rather than seriousness in saying App is better than Southern in every way.
Of course Harbison wouldve left App for the same position in AZ were the roles reversed. I would still be worried about him going to Cleveland now that Wilks is there.

We're not concerned. It sounds like you almost expect us to be obsessed enough to continue to go on and on about you...newsflash, we're not. You were entertaining in the slow time before our bowl though. And after several years of coaching churn it's tons better to watch someone else go through it.

Not really much more to be said until ya'll start playing. Proof will be in the pudding. I have some ideas of what ya'll will look like and do, just based on what the coaches have done previously. Truth is no one really knows and won't until you see the product on the field.

Off the top of my head: Roof, Wyatt, Dorsey, and Harbison all held the same or higher positions at a higher level of play (P5/NFL) and are now working at App for less money (assuming your assistant pool is still in the neighborhood of 1.2-1.4 mil).

Either they LOVE Boone or they're on a downward career trend.

Then you add in a guy like Adams who was fired for taking WKU from the #1 offense in the country to #96 and #114 in two seasons.

The only new guy on your staff that made a lateral or upward move to App is your special teams coordinator.

App may still win the conference in 2019, but this won't be a seamless transition.

Oh darn.. i was hoping you were going to defend your position that this is the best staff ever assembled in the history of the SBC.

Guess I can hope for that for another day.

Same could be said for Scottie Montgomery. Great position coach, not so great head coach.

Harbison's situation is obviously a bit different because he and Wilks were in AZ for one season before their GM decided to go off and hire a losing college football coach as a head coach because he has developed QB's. Generally, that role is used for an OC or a QB Coach and the Cardinals probably could've kept Wilks and gone after Mahomes wonderboy Coach as OC.

Regardless, it resulted in this guy, who you guys were excited about last season, being in Boone.

Dorsey is in his 30's so I wouldn't say he was in a downward career trend. The offensive staff from the 2017 Panthers was let go because the Saints defense (AJ Klein specifically) was calling the Panthers plays and audibles out. You have Kirk Coleman and AJ Klein, both of whom spent 4 seasons with the Panthers on defense, go to the Saints defense. Then you had Ted Ginn who played in Shula's system also go to the Saints. The Panthers went 11-6, including the post season, and 3 of those 6 losses came to the Saints.

Thus, the changeover was done in order to mix up the offense more since Shula had been there since Cam was drafted and was running the same basic offense he had run since Chudsinki left in 2012.

I've got nothing on Roof. It seems like he's been on a downward trend since the 80's yet continues to be hired.

we were so excited about him that a grand total of 8 of the 12 posts in four days were from GS fans. WOW, that's a whole two posts per day about him. How did we contain ourselves? I've seen more excitement in the morgue. 07-coffee3

Just because you weren't around here then KJ doesn't mean others weren't excited. There were 8 posts last season because Georgia Southern had just been taken out behind the woodshed for the past two seasons with Mr. Summers. Southern fans disappeared from this board.

Thus, the lack of posts isn't due to a lack of excitement about the coach but rather a lack of excitement about the program in general.

Wut? We never disappeared from the board.. LOL. Everyone knows.. you can't keep gnats away.

Tyson's departure was a massive spike in message board traffic for gsufans.com... was one of the top moments IIRC.

Even then, we still were posting here. Another whiff from the ECU fan.

I was here. Just because I didn't post a lot doesn't mean I didn't lurk. And as a GS fan, I would think I would have a better feel for what GS fans were excited about than an ECU fan would.

You guys are pretty schizophrenic aren't you? Depending on what day of the week it is, you go from Satt is the best coach in the free world, to oh crap he's going to gut our entire coaching staff, to the new staff is the best and most exciting coaching staff we have ever had in Boone, to we are the best thing ever to grace the G5 stage, to why are the GS fans so mean to us? They want us to lose and it hurts our widdle feewings.

Make up your minds.
