Apparently no one in this conference can win on the road.

Cajuns, early on, looking to be the team to beat . . .

Bobcats lost a lot of O to graduation last year. We're pretty young this year. Will be interesting to see if/how this team comes together.

Still early, a lot of ball left to play . . .

Our performance was pretty bad tonight, but we've sort of got an excuse.

RE: 2nd weekend upcoming of Belt b-ball play: Thur 1/4 and Sat 1/6
Pretty wild postgame interview out of Mike Balado tonight:

"I made a commitment to Terry Mohajir when I was hired here that I was going to rebuild this program the right way. I did not come here and commit to this university, just to find some other job to take the next year. I will not sacrifice my morals or integrity to produce a few extra wins on the basketball court. It does absolutely nothing to help these young men as they go further in life. I have said since I got here that we were going to build a championship winning team at Arkansas State. The last 3 days of practice and tonight's game was not an example of a team building towards a championship." I am a competitor, and I want to win every time we take the floor, but if we have to take a few losses like this to show everyone that we are serious about the process, so be it. They will pay off in the long run.

"I don't know who that team was who took the floor tonight, but it was not the Arkansas State basketball team." "I want every single recruit to hear this right now, if you do not plan to give 100 percent effort every single day you are a part of this program, you will not play" "If you do not live up to the high standards required of someone wearing an Arkansas State jersey, you will not play." "I told our players tonight to get back to the hotel and take a long look in the mirror and determine if they are going to be 100 percent invested in helping build a championship winning program and let me know, because if they expect to start every game and play regularly, they have to be all in"

"I told our players from the beginning that I will accept full responsibility for every loss and give credit to the players for every win. I accept full and complete responsibility for what happened tonight."

And with that, he stomped off, without saying another word.

Cajuns won both games in Arkansas last week. Although that may not prove to be much of an accomplishment.

Well, first off, good for him. I'm all about building it the right way. It isn't too much to ask for your team to be committed to the process.

RE: 2nd weekend upcoming of Belt b-ball play: Thur 1/4 and Sat 1/6
Some thoughts on last night's games

1. As soon as I heard about Bruce at stAte, I said, GS wins by 20. Without Bruce, the Red Wolves have absolutely no inside game.
2. When I heard about JaKeenan Gant (thumb, out indefinitely) I figured the Cajuns would be in for a tough ride. Their ability to stop App time after time was impressive.
3. We have a bunch of home court heroes in this league. I say that because the disparity between some of these performances at home vs. the road is mind boggling. Sometimes that's youth. Not many teams have that excuse in this league.
4. Chemistry makes a great team average or an average team good. When teams you know are good are suffering head scratching losses more often that not it's because of stuff in the locker room.
5. No one in this league is infallible That includes the Cajuns, despite their strong start. The loss of Gant is a big one. A big one. With due respect to the opponents, it's possible they might not be the only ones to sweep the Arkansas trip.
6. When you have home court heroes, every home loss really hurts.

I don't know who GSU has calling this AState/GSU game for ESPN3 is, but he's awful. Can't keep up with the play at all.

What does Georgia State think this is? The NBA? We've got absolutely no inside game to speak of and the Panthers just absolutely refuse to throw it inside, instead content to pull up for 3's off the dribble. They are going in...for now. But they could score on will inside on us if they bothered to try.

AState up 24-23 about 12 minutes in.
