Playing in bowl games matters. Don't ever believe that it doesn't. Winning bowl games matters even more because you're matched up with OOC competition. We all use these matchups as a barometer of a conference's strength that year. It amazes me how nearly all AAC fans discount every accomplishment of a CUSA or SBC team as meaningless, but if one of their teams gets a win in a "Fruitcake Bowl", it's headline worthy news.

If I remember right the AAC hasn't competed very well in bowls...at least last year. If you can't win them put 'em down.

RE: ESPN Bowl Challenge Cup standings
I did the calculations for the Sun Belt to win the Bowl Challenge Cup (championship game scenarios included).

Already eliminated:
*CUSA
*MAC

Eliminated with a New Mexico State win:
*ACC #
*Pac-12
*Big 12
*American
*MW

# if both Virginia and Virginia Tech lose today (Dec 28)

A New Mexico State win will eliminate with:
*ACC - 3 losses (Clemson results do not change total losses needed)
*SEC - 2 losses (if both Alabama and Georgia lose semifinal game)
*SEC - 3 losses (if either or both Alabama and Georgia advance to championship game)
*Big Ten - 2 losses

Sun Belt is eliminated with a New Mexico State loss.

If I counted right, the B1G is now the only league that can surpass us. Looks like Ohio State will win and make them 5-0 with three games left after that.

We need them to lose two games.

I know. We're pitiful. So embarrassing but happy that the rest of the conference is carrying us.

Penn State is the most likely to be a loss. It'll come down to the other two games. I hope Miami steps up and beats Wisconsin.

Agree . . my Red Wolves shat the bed and that is totally unacceptable. We did not represent the Conference well in our Bowl Game and we let our Conference Mates down. So glad the rest of you played hard and won your Bowl Games. 04-cheers
