Dabo Swinney told Jackson Carman during his recruitment that Urban Meyer is on the back end of his career in terms of years left. “It wasn’t a major factor, but it was an underlying one,” Carman said.

It's Ohio State, but I hate that **** in recruiting.

Lol. Remember when Andy Kennedy sent a fax to a recruit saying that John Cheney of Temple was old and would retire soon and that he should switch his commitment to UC...and he recruit gave the fax to Cheney? He went berserker in front of a camera waiving the fax around.

I loved John Chaney. The funny thing about the Meyer situation is that Dabo is only five years younger.

Meyer is only 53, but to be honest I can easily see him retiring in a few years. Unlike the old-timers who coached into their late 70s and 80s, he has earned a lot of money in his lifetime. Plus, in this era of the playoffs and big media payouts (B10 up to $50M/year per team now) the pressure to win is greater than ever before. Eventually that will burn guys out.

FWIW, Vann used to beat up on Carmen in practice. We got the better end of that deal IMO.

We didn't even have a staff yet at this time a year ago and we are going to knock on the door of a top 40 signing class?

IMO, its already the best class UC has ever signed. Daaaayum.

As a side note to this. I went to every one of Fairfield's home games, and if I had to pick between Carman and Vann, I'd pick Vann every day of the week and twice on Sundays. I won't rip on a HS kid, but lets just say their attitude and effort before/during/after games couldn't have been more different. Vann was the heart and soul of that team, always gave 100%, and made plays that made a difference in the game(s). I think we got a good one in Vann.

Not exactly true. They weren't allowed to square off in practice because the Fairfield staff was afraid Vann would hurt him. That was after Vann took out 2 other starting OL in summer camp...
