Enjoy yourselves the next couple of days. We'll just hang out....
Even though I disagree with that approach, I'll respect it. Coach Brown can in in December of 14 and they killed it in recruiting. The early period adds a slightly different dynamic.
We'll wait until February for y'all to update us.

Already happened...

A lot has been said about the "decline" of CUSA on this board, so I think it is notable to point out that a total of five CUSA teams have class rankings higher than the top ranked SBC team on this list. None are a whole lot higher, but still, I'd say the fact that five teams are higher is significant.
I don’t think the argument is that there aren’t any good teams in CUSA. I think it’s that there’s a lot of blubber around those teams, killing the product as a whole.

So out of the thousands of recruits you make a conclusion based on two kids....wow...Also not true based on your 24/7 site.

With attrition we should still be signing close to 20 kids.
I just don't expect a lot of commits in the early period due to the fact we just got our coaching staff in place.

You might want to check head to head records between SBC ands CUSA between 2000 and 2010, and then 2011 to 2017.
From Jeremy Wise before we crushed North Texas:
"Conference USA was 33-14 in the 2000s against the Sun Belt – which formed as a football league in 2001. In the 2010s, the Sun Belt has closed the gap – entering Saturday’s action 22-24 against its rival." We've been gaining ground for a while, and with the new coaching hires, and the loss of Idaho and New Mexico State, we should be even stronger.
The "gap" between the SBC is inconsequential. We had dozens of UNT fans saying that Troy's stats didn't matter because we played "inferior competition". Well, they got #funbelt'd. GSU and WKU, had equal records and GSU came away with a 10 point win in a game that wasn't even that close. FAU is carrying your league right now, and you guys need to admit the decline is real.
Also, you can't use the words "only slightly" and then follow it up with "significant". Those ideas are not compatible.

This. Its what they do once they get where they are going.
Its a numbers game not every two star is going to be a back up and not every high three+ star is going to be a four year starter. It is finding the 11 starters on each side of the ball out of a pool of higher ranked kids vs lower ones. Your chances of finding playmakers out of a pool of higher ranked talent is much higher than walk ons.. that is not a debate. AL signs a bunch of players that could start at just about any other FBS team in the country that never see the field because they signed four or five kids just like them the three years before and will the next three years. Being able to sort through a pile of four and five star kids is why they have dominated since Saban has been there. Not making the field as a four star at AL does not mean you were a bust it just means the three or four other four and five star kids they signed were just better. It is all relative and applies at any level of the FBS. It is a game played by humans so nothing is one for one with rankings but the correlation is there on the macro level. Saban is not winning a NC with Vandy talent but he can win an NC at Vandy with AL talent.
Hope the entire Sun Belt does well and we can start closing the gap on the rest of the G5.

This class will be judged on quality and not quantity I think. If our per recruit avg is up there then all good.

We have one "good get" and some potentials based on rankings and offers. I am not putting "good get" on a kid when we are there only offer or the other offers are only FCS or DIV II. As much as I like our coaches I dont think they are that much smarter than the other 130 FBS teams coaching staffs.
Our money will be made in Jan/Feb.

I mean when you have low three stars and high 2 stars there's really no way of knowing who will be better. It seems over the last 3 years at App our lowest rated recruits have been the best early contributors.
I think the best indicator (in the high 2 to mid 3 range) isn't to look at the star but to look at the offer list. For instance your "3-star" QB commit is only showing an offer from Valdosta State other than GS...

I'm still in shock that we signed these recruits over P5 and good G5 teams....this must be a dream
Watch out SunBelt secondaries....ya'll might see 6'4-6'3 (Owens, Johnson, Champaigne) tall physical receivers as X & Y receivers for the Panthers next year! Penny will be flying under the radar as a slot receiver to carve up yards...cant double triple team Penny anymore

TXST has 16 of 22 signed so far. Some are not having their signings until later today when their high schools are having anyone recruited sign in a "ceremony"

We did it in 2016, that is what you should do in a state like GA and being within 40 miles of some of the best talent in the country like GaSt is. Most kids like to stay somewhat local and got to schools with former teammates, classmates and where their families can come watch games with relative ease.
Elliot is doing what Trent Miles should have been doing in diving head first into local and state talent at his finger tips instead of scouring the transfer and juco ranks so heavily. I hope this is an eye opener and reality check for the GS fan base and where our expectations should be. Congrats to GSU best year by far for the program in every way.

Great job by Shawn Elliot. He's proving that Trent Miles was nothing but a hack as a head coach.

Your reaction after meeting your HC at his first Spring Game should never be "Oh CRAP!".
CTM is ill suited for the job of FBS HC.
