TCU AD leaves to go to Texas
http://footballscoop.com/news/tcu-ad-chr...ing-texas/

"TCU athletics director Chris Del Conte is leaving to accept the same job at Texas, according to a report from Kirk Bohls of the Austin American-Statesman. A formal announcement is expected later Saturday afternoon.

Del Conte has been at TCU since 2009 and was instrumental in securing TCU’s membership in the Big 12. That story famously hinges on Del Conte winning the approval of then-Texas AD and de facto Big 12 commissioner DeLoss Dodds."

Good hire. Texas needs somebody with his focus.

Gotta emulate the class of your state somehow.

RE: TCU AD leaves to go to Texas
Del Conte has done a masterful job at TCU. He has managed to retain Patterson, hire Dixon in basketball, and oversaw the renovations of Carter Stadium (not to mentioned help get TCU into the Big 12). While Texas is Texas, many "big" and "successful" names have simply not met expectations there. Patterson and Perrin did not last long. Neither did Strong. It will be important to have him start on the right foot, as if football continues to finish below the top of the Big 12, he will undoubtedly be tasked with replacing Herman.

Great hire for Texas, obviously unhappy to see Del Conte leaving TCU but he leaves having done a masterful job. TCU already announced that Del Conte's replacement will be internal...so hopefully he can keep the ball rolling.

TCU sits at 10-3 in football and ranked AP #13, 10-0 in men's basketball and ranked AP #20, and has been to 4 straight college world series in baseball. On top of that all three major sports have new and/or significantly renovated facilities and complete in a major conference.

When I first moved to Fort Worth in 1999 this would have been a pipe dream of all pipe dreams.

You're not wrong and that's exactly what makes it such a great hire.
