I would be more than fine with Will Healy, but I question how accurate Feldman’s tweet is. I’m not against any of the FCS coaches that have been discussed, but my concern has been those who have a reliance on transfers (several do). Obviously it will be harder to do at the FBS level since transfers would have to sit out a year. But if those FCS coaches can manage that I am good with them. Head coaching experience is a plus for me.
As someone else mentioned, current DC Kane Wommack is a candidate. While I wasn’t sold on the idea when I first heard it, it might not be a terrible thing if he’s able to assemble a good staff - which money wise we should be able to put together.
Recruiting transfers isnt much different than recruiting HS players. As you mentioned several do it, so the competition is great between schools. Most of these guys are players that couldnt make the first string at their previous school. The next group are the ones looking to get closer to home. The smallest and most publicized group are the ones running from the law.
Any of the FCS coaches mentioned will adapt to the situation and probably be successful just like they have done on the ballfield.

It would appear things are swinging to Steve Campbell.

Football scoop is reporting that to be the case, we're waiting on confirmation. He's a good coach with ties to the area. I support it 100% if true.

When he was brought up on our board my only concern was staff, since it's pretty heavy on UCA guys and not really a lot of broad experience (or at least that's how it seemed).
May be all he could get there though. Would be interesting to see what he does at USA.

I have heard rumors that we will be increasing our assistant salaries by a decent amount. I doubt he is at the top of our salary range so we can probably afford some really good assistants.

The thing that I like the most is that he is a great O-Line coach. That has been our main problem for at least 3 years now.

Quote:Steve Campbell is expected to be hired as South Alabama's next football coach, multiple sources have confirmed to AL.com.
The 51-year-old Campbell has spent the last four seasons as head coach at Central Arkansas, where he posted a 33-15 record. His Bears went 10-2 this season and won the Southland Conference championship.

Does this mean we will beat UCA the next time we play? Asking for a friend. :)
