Like many of you, I walked out of BFS 2 years ago today disappointed, angry, confused and pessimistic about the future of JMU FB. I knew deep down inside we didn't have the defense to make a legit run through the playoffs that season. Our swiss cheese D's ineffectiveness had been masked pretty much all season with a terrific offense that just outscored opponents. Losing Vad Lee a few games earlier when ESPN GD was in town didn't help things. Neither did a fumbled KO return that helped Colgate gain early momentum and put us in a hole.

Sounds pretty bleak I realize. But, and thank Buddha there is a "but", who would've thunk when walking out of the stadium that day that we'd go the next 24 months with ZERO losses to D1AA opponents and sitting here today in great position to defend a national title? I admit it easily that thought was far from my mind that day or over the next 9-10 months for that matter.

Stop and smell the roses, my fellow Dukes friends. Times like these are to be cherished. They come and they go.

Go Dukes!!

I'll never forget that day, probably as angry as I've ever been after a sporting event. First time in my life I've ever left a game in anger twice (I had an extra ticket, left at halftime, came back in the 3rd only to watch them score immediately, and walked back out). Talked myself into giving HCMH a shot to change my pessimism, and the rest is history for me. For the first time I feel like we are consistently living up to our potential, instead of living down to expectations.

For the record, count me as one that likes the direction Lou Rowe has that team heading. He's got a long way to go, but of course he had a much taller mountain to climb.

Yes indeed this is a special moment that doesn't come along unless the stars align perfectly. I am enjoying this ride and don't know anyone who isn't unless it's an opponent we've recently buried.
