I wont predict anything until i watch some App replays. I picked them early in the year over Georgia and havent watched them since. But going on record and strength of the SBC and MAC... Toledo will be pretty heavily favored. Massey and FPI dont even give APP a 25% chance. Not too many teams played us within 7. Ohio and Miami beat us, EMU and Tulsa were the only other teams to keep it under 10. 9 of our wins were by 10+.

I like the one Toledo (a team we defeated last year) homer here talking big because they beat up all the MAC schools and Akron twice. While we aren't as strong over the whole season as we were last year. Our team this year just started to really hit their stride these last few games, so we should come in pretty confident to this one.

Lol u played 3 top 100 teams! Come on!!! This isnt a 9-3 MAC squad vs a good 9-3 squad from the SBC of yester year. I like the belt. But Troy is the team to give us fits if any team can... Not this years version of App! And truly I truly....watch a lot of G5 ball. Toledo is the 3rd best G5 team and App is about 15th.

Okay? Youve played like 2? Since 2010 this is how we rank... The team you beat last season was the 3rd worst in 8 seasons.
2015 Toledo (10-2 beat 2 ranked teams)
2017 Toledo (11-2 MAC Champs)
2011 Toledo (great SOS and won Millitary Bowl)
2012 Toledo (started 8-1 and beat a ranked team but lost bowl to #15 USU)
2014 Toledo (killed stAte in bowl)
2016 Toledo (beat no one great)
2013 Toledo (won 7 games against a solid schedule but didnt go bowling)
2010 Toledo (first year bowling since 2005 and lost to FIU)

First year FBS team App dominated Ark St. in 2014, congrats. 2012 you got blown out by USU 41-15 in your bowl game, 2011 you were 8-4. I could argue that was the third best Toledo team in your history. Seems like you're being subjective in your ranking to prop up your position that a team that received top 25 votes last year beat you by a couple points in a bowl game was a down year for Toledo.

Our middle linebacker (led fbs in tackles) got hurt on the opening kickoff and david fluellen our rb didnt play after the first series against USU. That game was literally 14 to 7 with 7 mins to go and the flood gates opened. Their coach left for Wisconsin. They went 12-2.

In 2011 we had the most prolific offense in program history. Lost 63 to 60 to NIU and won the following week 66 to 63 to WMU. We lost to Syracuse on a pat frick up by the officials where it was reviewed and not over turned. Also known as the worst officiating call EVER in FBS. Lost to Ohio State by 5 when their officials were reprimanded for the 15 to 2 penalty tilt. And lost to #4 Boise State as well. We played about as good of a schedule you can get in the G5.

I know my sh!t. The Toledo team you beat last year was a selfish team with some NFL studs. This years team is better.

Toledo and App came into last season fighting for the 10th spot in the G5. Ranked at 41 and 42 in Massey Composite. The game went as so. Down to the wire. This season is 30th vs. 69th.

Final records don't tell the entire story based on how different 9-4 teams can be based on SOS. But the best 2 teams in recent memory are 2015 and 2011. This season has a chance to beat out 2011 with a bowl win. 2015 was our best team maybe ever. That defense was top 10 nationally and kept the #1 offense by yards (Arkansas) to 10 offensive points, stopping them 5 times in the redzone. We blew it in November losing to NIU and WMU though. We killed BGSU the MAC Champ.

Since 2010 this is probably the 3rd of 4th best offense we have had and the 2nd best defense we have had.

Last year our pride was a close loss to BYU. Ohio beat us at home. WMU drilled us. The 9-3 was weak pre-bowl, and we knew we were as good as the schedule allowed. Re listen to my podcast... or the Black and Gold Podcast from before the game. I said it would be a game coming down to the wire. We missed a FG and lost. App was a terrific team. I'm not ashamed of that.

I'm not saying we can't lose this game. It's bowl season...crazy stuff happens. But my only retort was to whoever said that App "should" win this game... That's just false. You can't find find a single stat that has them over 50% to win the game, and that's what "should" means. Toledo is favored by Vegas, Massey Composite, FPI, Sagarin, Massey, S&P+, All of em... personal predictions aside.

Look at our losses last season compared to years I said was better.
2012... lost to Orange Bowl 12-2 #20 NIU, 11-2 #15 USU, 9-4 Ball State, 8-5 Arizona in OT.
2014... maybe last years team was better but we ended on a high note smoking stAte and Kareem Hunt had a spectacular year with 1500 yards. So that team seemed better? Resume maybe it wasnt?

Best to worst... most Toledo fans would agree. While having a good offense with Kareem and Roberts, our defense was turrible... just frickin turrrible.
