Purdue's revenues: $79M/year
W&M's revenues: $26M/year

Why exactly is W&M compared to Purdue when you're the only thing the two have in common?

I like to think nj alum is also on a Purdue fan board somewhere drawing the same comparisons in the opposite direction. "William & Mary has had the same football coach for 37 seasons; why can't we keep Jeff Brohm until 2050!?"

Oh, I'm sorry ... I didn't realize that you had no interest in expanding your horizons, and see how other folks do things ... regardless of whether other folks are bigger or smaller ... richer or poorer ... and see whether what other folks do can, or can not, be done at our school.

I cite Purdue because I'm familiar with the school, and semi-know what I'm talking about.

I cite Purdue because I suspect that few, if any folks, on here follow Purdue, and information is always a good thing.

I cite Purdue because, in their world, they have to make decisions to keep up with the "big boys" of their world.

I cite Purdue because, at its heart, it is still an academic institution, unlike many of their peers, and some of our conference mates.

I cite Purdue because, at its core, strip away the money, Purdue is fighting the same fight as W&M ...remaining true to its academic mission, trying to compete at the highest level in athletics, trying to entertain its fan base.

Rocco, you're a bright guy. Lose the snark. I'm just trying to inform. I have no connection with VPI, UVa, UNC, Wake, Duke ... I can't tell you what they do... but I can tell you what Purdue does. Knowledge is a good thing.

Finally, if you really want to go ballistic, I could tell you what Iowa, Illinois, Ohio State and Rutgers do, given my family ties to those institutions...but I stick with the Boilermakers.

:-)

No, I rarely post over there ... too much Purdue institutional knowledge of which I have no clue. I just read and learn over there.

Lot of angst over Brohm...been a godsend for Purdue football.

Speaking of Purdue football, they just built their football building this year ... so the Laycock Center pre-dates it.

Purdue also has an empty south end zone ... some stands and Jumbotron. They haven't made a decision on what to do, but it's hopefully going to be a mixed use facility like Notre Dame just did. When the track is removed from Cary/Zable, the Tribe should consider a mixed use facility for the south end zone.

One thing I didn't mention earlier. One of the similarities between Purdue fans and Tribe fans, putting aside the financial and attendance numbers, is the fact that there is great passion for BOTH of the main sports. Lots of school's fan bases are partial to one or the other.

RE: Volleyball Coach Gone!
Looks like we hired a new volleyball coach today - http://www.tribeathletics.com/news/2018/...coach.aspx

Tim Doyle was assistant coach of VCU who was 30-3 last year who won the A-10 and went to NCAAs last year.

"At VCU, Doyle oversaw the recruiting efforts, handled video and data analysis programs, assembled scouting reports, and assisted in team and individual player development"

North Carolina 2
Texas 2
Florida
Indiana
Kentucky

RE: Volleyball Coach Gone!
Our roster only has 9 on it right now, but for comparison:

Virginia 2
Texas 2
Kentucky
Illinois
Oregon
New Jersey
Tennessee

Honestly a lot more spread out/nationwide than I would've expected

RE: Volleyball Coach Gone!
Coach Doyle will need a recruiting year to show much improvement. Win over Robert Morris was over a 0-5 team that hasn't won but two sets. Team got clobbered by Va Tech but made decent showings in the four losses and could have easily won one of them.
