Well that seriously up the ante for SDSU. That could certainly halt SDSU's progress.

Well that seriously up the ante for SDSU. That could certainly halt SDSU's progress.

They don't have the money to buy it at their current bid to start with. The state legislature was never ponying up the money for a campus expansion that won't be necessary for at least a decade.

The courts are going to get involved because they can't force a sell to begin with. Even if SDSU wins that arguement, it will be so drawn out for so long the costs will only be exponentially more. The state still won't be paying.

All this nonsense did was get SDSU out of rent and probably killed the Holiday Bowl the city was already losing money over.

It also means the programs focus has been on a pipe dream instead of actual goals it could accomplish.

A benefit of being a private university is having to live within your means and avoiding costly wastes of time that state schools can get themselves into with that funding credit card.

Nothing is ever done in the City until the last concrete is poured. With that being said, I have a real good feeling about the new Stadium getting done. Will it be on time with a 2022 open date? I'm not betting on that one but somewhere real close to that date.

Should construction delay the opening for past the first 3 weeks of the season, what alternate options does SDSU have to play a home game or two?

The current old Stadium will not be blown up until the new Stadium is built in its entirety.

PS...There is no other place to play in San Diego.

Here is the latest on "Aztec Warrior Stadium". San Diego State has made a new offer to the City and the City seems to like it. This isn't done yet, but it is getting real close.

We still have to watch out for Law Suits that can delay the project.

I know a couple of people involved (and I don't get much info from them at all. Very tight lipped on this one), but at this point in time all is going very well.

Quote:San Diego State University administrators announced in a news conference Thursday that San Diego philanthropist Dianne L. Bashor has donated $15 million to the university toward construction of the new stadium that will be part of SDSU Mission Valley.

In recognition of her generosity, SDSU will name the field at the new Aztec Stadium Bashor Field.

There is still much to happen...But the Stadium IS going to happen. It is just a matter of when they break ground.

And I do believe that the River Park will be done AFTER the Stadium. The Stadium comes first.
