maybe most important game on Saturday
is Notre Dame/Stanford.
The ACC is huge ND fans here. A ND win should guarantee them in the Orange Bowl unless Alabama loses and misses the playoffs(in which case Alabama would be a near lock for the Orange). A ND loss and there's pretty much no way ND would be in there.
why is it big? For ACC it would be like 13.5 million dollars.

The orange bowl has the right to skip the highest ranked ND/SEC/Big 10 team if it results in a rematch. I wonder if they would want ND/Miami 2?

Also OSU or Wisconsin could still take the spot as well. Has the B1G exhausted their Orange attempts?

No maximums for Big 10 or SEC. They both are guaranteed a minimum of 3, so the SEC could go 3x and the Big 10 could go 9x. ND is guaranteed 0x and may only go 2x in the 12 year cycle

Almost correct. The SEC or B1G can go a maximum of 5 times, because the SEC/B1G/ND arrangement only applies to the 8 times during the 12 year life of the CFP when the OB is not a playoff game. So minimum of 3/maximum of 5 appearances for the SEC or B1G in the Orange.

Ah...correct. Forgot to include the playoff years. That's why ND was capped at 2.

Win probably guarantees an ACCESS bowl but not likely Orange bowl. I doubt Miami vs ND happens. Orange Bowl has the option to avoid rematch.

IMO, if ND wins tonight thay are 100% sure thing for an NY6 bowl, though as you say probably not the OB. I would bet Cotton.
Even if ND loses, unless they get blown out they still have pretty good chance of remaining in top 12 and making an NY6 bowl.

the thing that is so funny is the ACC would be pressuring the Orange Bowl so hard to take Notre Dame.
And I really think the Orange may hold it's nose and take Notre Dame anyways.

If ND loses, it's going to be tough for them to remain in the top 11. Lets say the all favorites scenario happens.....
these teams all would be ahead of ND for sure(with ND loss)
Alabama
Clemson
Miami
Oklahoma
Wisconsin
Auburn
Georgia
Ohio St
USC
Penn St
UCF(in due to G5 slot)
that's 11 teams.
So I guess ND may be in regardless for Access bowl. Unless 1 upset happens- TCU over Oklahoma. In that scenario, I think ND is in trouble.

The word around ND is the Cotton Bowl, not the Orange Bowl.

If things break right, ND can still make playoffs.

You can't say that any 3-loss team is guaranteed a CFP bowl. Any of Auburn, Ohio State, Penn State, and USC could finish with 3 losses.

Auburn totally would be a lock at 9-3 right now. They aren't falling 7 spots by losing to Alabama. I mean just looking 1 of USC or Washington St MUST lose. They were 10/13 in the ratings. #14 Miss St lost. #15 UCF is meaningless in it this way. Mich St plays Rutgers today. So yeah, Auburn is a lock.
Ohio St would be a lock as well with 3 losses. Either they beat Michigan and lose to Wisconsin which will get them in around 12, or they lose to Michigan and beat Wisconsin- which gets them in automatically. Penn St plays Maryland today.

If ND wins and Miami wins next week I would bet on a Clemson ND orange bowl. If Clemson makes the playoffs however I doubt they would do a Miami ND rematch since the 1st one was a blowout

the thing that would gum that up would be Alabama losing to Auburn here and missing the playoffs.

For sure. A bama loss would really liven things up

It would completely eliminate Notre Dame from Orange Bowl. Alabama is going to be ahead of Notre Dame no matter what. And the Orange MUST take the highest rated SEC/Big Ten/ND team(unless it creates a rematch).

well if this score holds Alabama will likely be in the Orange Bowl.
