RE: P5 coaching changes...
Frost is leaving, the question is where, not whether.

We also have no idea who FSU would be looking at. They are as likely to poach a P5 coach as dip down into the G5.

Yeah, pretty much. If Fisher heads to Aggyland I do think the musical chairs starts all over again and that may be the best thing for Arkansas and Tennessee.

BTW: Campbell signed a renewal with Iowa State today so take him off the market.

I think Frost probably leaves but that doesn't mean he 100% will. Crazy things happen.

Also, congrats to the ISU contingent with them keeping Campbell. That is fantastic. Wish them the best!

Tennessee may have a terrible time finding a coach. The way they handled Schiano does not sit well in the coaching community. Who wants to work for a Pollyanna administration that bends to it's loud mouth alumni that easily? Worse are the insane expectations. It's a suicide job. After all this it may be some MAC or SBC coach who winds up taking the Volunteers seat.

Nutt's a bit past his cachet. Maybe they should hire Tubby or Miles, or even Fulmer. Guarantee them 4 years and get them to bring the program back fundamentally. They've gone for so long without any fundamentals that they don't remember what Tennessee football is.

I'm afraid that lost in all the jokes about Tennessee's bungled search is what, to me, is an alarming trend. Fans have become emboldened by what is comically called "social media" to interject themselves into every decision the school they root for makes. That is not a good thing. For that matter, pretty much nothing that comes out of Twitter is a good thing.

Support your school or don't. But let them do their jobs. If you don't like the way they do them, stop buying tickets.

The Campbell contract extension/renegotiation is a huge win for Iowa State. Certainly I expect Campbell will leave ISU at some point, but what he did in year 1 has been amazing and for the first time in a while it looks like Iowa State has the opportunity to build into at least a consistent bowl team (which considering a schedule of 10 P5 teams every year is pretty good).

They can't get a top hire with NCAA sanctions hanging over their heads. Luke is one of their own and this was probably the wisest course of action for the next few years.
Ole Miss hired a consultant to get to that conclusion. My assumption is they had a list of possible candidates, took the temperature and Ole Miss made an informed decision that Luke was their best choice for now.

Thing is that backlash was so predictable.
1. The fans weren't going to look at his Rutgers record in context.
2. The Penn State frenzy ought to have been predictable to anyone watching the news or reading a newspaper lately.

Vox Populi always leads to disaster whether it is the mob master trying to spin things their way to stay in power, or the total abandonment of responsibility to the whims of the public. It is anathema to the concept of a republic. And it is why a public accusation in social media carries the present power to accuse, judge, and sentence a person without ever having a hearing or a trial, or ascertaining guilt or innocence. Goebbels would have loved it, and had he had it Hitler may have ruled the world. Because of it I'm more wary of an American Hitler than ever before! The conditions are ripe for it since people now believe the ready made lie even more quickly and are too lazy to ever investigate the truth.

This is year 2 for Campbell at ISU.

There are always mobs. But you have to be "man" enough to stand up and tell them to shut up and sit down.If you can't do that then you are not cut out for an execute role.
