Towson Game
Time to take it to Richmond, let the seniors go on a high note, give the younger guys something to build on, and get healthy.

Maybe our messageboard fanbase will regroup, too.

RE: Towson Game
On a bright note, the defense played well again. Big punt return, pick almost six, and sack/fumble gave Towson most of their points via score or field position.

Also, if we make it on fourth and goal or kick the FG, we're up 17-12 or 21-12 instead of 14-12 and Towson has a different game plan.

We played better than the score indicated.

McKee stands in there and takes a beating and can run hard. But, friends, he cannot pass. Under and overthrows consistently, often watches the opposition rushers and not his receivers, and has a tepid release.

This is an undermanned team, has suffered lots of key injuries, and is quarterback deficient.

Guys gave their all today...we actually led at halftime...am hoping for a miracle in Richmond next Saturday.

I would word it slightly differently: "The game was closer than the score indicated".

No sense in saying much else. We don't need lengthly post mortems on a 2-8 team.

This is the youngest team in the CAA. We only have around 12-13 seniors actually graduating. We’ll be better next year.

Yeah, but if we run the table the rest of the way, can we still get a first round bye?

He absolutely can pass. Saying otherwise is just ridiculous. He has a lot of work to do but I watched several...several...beautiful balls hit receivers right in the hands and they dropped them. The truth is we need to get much better in all areas of the offense and special teams if we want to match what our defense brings to the table. For sure, we need more from our QB, I'm not arguing that, but McKee/Battle/Mitchell have the physical tools to move the offense. And, psst, they can all pass at the college level.

I hope our guys bounce back vs Richmond. We'll have to take some chances in play-calling, have a few opportunities go our way, and play at the level we are capable.

RE: Towson Game
We are not criticizing McKee as a player or a person, but his passing game is not going to scare any CAA teams whatsoever. This week's stat is what McKee will give you on a consistent basis. We cannot expect to have luxury of having Lang Campbell type of QB every year, but McKee is not our answer. I am not saying Mitchell or Battle is, but I guess our losing Coach Rogers was a bigger blow than we thought.

Yeah, Rogers retirement was definitely a big setback. I feel like we just haven't had a true pro-style pocket passer at W&M since Campbell, which is the type of QB W&M needs to find unless they change their offensive scheme.

Going to have to disagree with both of you here. Unless Mitchell or Battle make great leaps over the offseason (side note: I’m hoping Mitchell will) then I don’t see us being a traditional pocket passer offense. We had three running backs contribute this year and none of them are going anywhere next year. Youu can build an offense around many different positions. I would like to see us build around our talented young backs. We have already gotten a few commits from some large lineman and I hope we keep that focus.

We don’t need a Lang Campbell to compete in the playoffs. What we do need is someone who doesn’t turn the ball over when we put the play in their hands. Running back is our deepest and most talented position and hopefully we build around it moving forward

If Mitchell or Battle wins the competition that will add a strong arm to our arsenal next year and this Tribe team will be back where our entitled fans expect it to be.

RE: Towson Game
I’m sorry, but McKee simply is not a FCS quality quarterback. I have no idea if Mitchell or Battle are either. I am sure he is a great kid, and as I have said before, no one questions his toughness. The main goal this offseason should be to find out if Mitchell is the real deal or not. If the answer is no, Jimmye better recruit one who is, or pick up a Paulus type transfer. If Tommy was Michael Vick, you could run a read option run first offense. But he is not.

Towson Game
I was disappointed in the clock management, not catching the punt, and taking the air out of the offense to end the first half. I believe that this was the wrong message to send to the the offense, who scored 2 td’s in the second quarter and seemed to be waking up. Who tries to sit on a 2 point lead with a half to play? We have been hurt by scores late in the first half multiple times this year. Why not try to do the same to Towson? I felt that the decision not to push for the advantage at the end of the first half, not play with a sense of urgency and leave 2 time outs unused was the turning point of the game.

I should have added knowing that you are kicking of to start the second half to the sentence about sitting on a 2 point lead.

RE: Towson Game
My take on the second half is a little different. I saw the game calling as more aggressive than in the first half. We came out passing, but McKee was a little off with timing and several throws were behind of the receivers, and there were a couple other times where the receiver just dropped it (Kinder) or should have caught the ball. Also, Giles was sick or suffering from asthma. He had to go into the locker room with about a minute and a half before half time after getting looked at by the doctor. He was a huge part of the offense in the first half, and didn't get another touch until the fourth quarter.

We didn't execute the plays. Towson did. Simple as that.

RE: Towson Game
Our OL plays have been sub-par this year. I guess we just had too many injuries here and there.
I have confidence in DJ Mangas that he will improve on his play callings. I am just confused as to what we are trying to do. Play callings have been predictable and not creative enough. We are a young squad and will take time.
Our DL has been great this year. That kid Kiely will be a stud for three more years. On LB corp, we are missing a playmaker in the likes of Dante Cook who was everywhere.
We will end up 2-9, but hopefully this is not a lost season. We shall bounce back next year.
