I never though I would see an 0-9 GS team...puts App's rather weak 6-4 in prospective. I fully expect to see Bohannon on the sidelines in Statesboro next year.

Don't count on it

Having watched GS a couple of times, I think your QB is killing your chances of winning games. He seems to be selfish and wanting to be "the man" and he isn't good enought. He fails to throw the ball quickly and takes the sack and would rather run it himself rather than make the pitch. He is athletic and can run but he can't get the job done for his mistakes. Yeah, you have other concerns but it all starts with the QB. GS did seem to have better spirit last night but lack of success eventually killed it off. Your team helped Appy win this one for sure.

App recruited him as a WR/athlete not a QB, but he wanted to be da man.

It's not really a result of trying to be THE man. It's more of no one is comfortable or confident in this scheme. I don't think he trusts himself to make throws downfield yet either. Honestly sometimes I just wish he'd uncork it, at this point if it gets intercepted it doesn't even really matter.

The system hasn't been designed well to build confidence in anyone on the field.

I have a hard time being hard on Werts when everything else is broken too.

And you're wrong about it starting with the QB....it starts with the OL.

The QB's a freshman trying to master the option while playing behind a substandard OL, and has likely not had good coaching either. In his situation can't blame him for some poor decisions and taking too much on himself. He plays hard, I'll give him that.

I agree.

He has potential to be a play maker.

Yup.

If Brent Davis or Brian Bohannon get the job, he'll be all-and before he graduates.

Agreed, he's a great athlete and he's not being selfish. I think he is just being overly conservative and trying not to make mistakes. He just needs to get comfortable distributing the ball.

What confuses me is that we have Justin Thomas' quarterbacks coach as our OC and Shai hasn't seen to develop much. Ditto for Bodine and the O-line. I guess we won't have to worry about them next year, but it is confusing coming from well respected position coaches.

They have mostly just beaten you guys.

This is probably the source of their superiority complex.

I know they are insufferable lot,and we've been at each others throats for years, but I'm afraid we are just going to have to live with it, because it is going to get worse. A lot worse in fact.

Hey we can still enjoy the off season.

Yep. Just needs the right support (to include a OL and OC with a coherent plan).

22-28 vs. Georgia State passing. Something very few QB's who ever played at Georgia Southern can say ... a 70%+ completion rate.

He can scramble. He has a ways to go to reading pitch keys, but I attribute a large part of this to the jumbled mess in front of him as we don't have that synchronicity we historically have had across the offensive front.

I didn't say he wasn't a good player. I said he is not a good QB. He may play hard but he is not effective. If you want to look over the sacks, the obvious times he should pitch the ball and doesn't, thats ok. IMO, he hurts your team by trying to do too much. What ever the problem, its a GS problem and I'm good with that. If GS is happy with him, I'm happy for you.
