RE: Game 7- James Madison
Take Tribe and the points and the under in this game. I don't see us losing that bad. I think Mitchell will play well against them and our defense will keep JMU in check.

The defense is capable, the offense & special teams need to be good enough to give the d an honest chance to win the game.

+24.5 seems like a good bet.

My hope is that the defense continues its play. JMU can put up points, we’ll need our best effort. I know these guys are excited and up for this challenge.

Offensively, we’ve lacked continuity. It’s totally understandable. Three QB’s, continuous subbing of WR’s through the first 6 games. There’s timing involved with these two positions. Now that it appears we’ve decided on a QB with Mitchell and RB with Funderburke and Evans, I hope we can decide on 4-5 WRs, sub them when needed, but keep them in the game with the QB. Get some consistency and continuity between QB and WR in a game. Game speed is different than practice speed. Scout teams can’t imitate the reactions and speed of the opponent.

If we can create some continuity on offense we can sustain drives, keep our defense fresh and have the opportunity to put more points on the board.

Upsets happen every week. This week is the perfect time to play spoiler.

About as possible as the basketball team going undefeated this season...

The point I am trying to make is that neither are going to happen, as much as I wish it would happen...

RE: Game 7- James Madison
We are FAR more likely to finish this year 2-9 than we are to run the table and go 7-4. JMU beat ECU by twenty in Greenville. They hung 75 on a NSU team that we struggled to beat. They just beat Villanova by three touchdowns, and I'll guarantee you that the Wildcats are a better team than we are. JMU fans would think we are all delusional if they read some of the stuff in this thread. I hope you guys are right, but this game could be over by halftime, and if that is indeed the case the students/alums will likely trickle out early to claim a good table at Paul's for the rest of the night.

So you’re saying we have a chance?

I get it. I’m realistic, but rivalry games have a tendency to have enexpected results. I’m not predicting a win. Two years ago we upset them at our place. Last year we were heavy underdogs and we were right there at the end with a chance. Let’s see how this year’s game plays out.

Game 7- James Madison
They play the game for a reason. Yes we’re heavy underdogs but then that is when there’s nothing to lose and victory is sweet. I was there 2 years ago when we weren’t given a great chance either...

Notre Dame has several national championships in football; Purdue has none.

Purdue has inflicted some painful defeats on the Irish.

They no longer play on an annual basis.

In our lifetime, JMU football has gone from nothing, to equal, to better. We won't be playing them much longer. They will go the way of VPI and UVa ... an occasional opponent who we play for the pay day rather than with a real shot at a W.

Enjoy the JMU conference games while you can.

Yea, I'll take the bragging rights. A successful year for me is beating Richmond (#1), beating JMU (#2), beating Delaware (#3), and winning a national title (#4). And before I get ridiculed, if we accomplish #1, #2, and #3 in the same year, we have a shot at #4.

Homecoming. Perfect fall day in W'burg. Defending national champion and undefeated JMU is in town. The frosh highly recruited QB is getting his shot. Aside from our record, doesn't get any better than this!

Get your priorities in order, young man!

:-)

W&M's going to run the ball and drain as much clock as possible to keep the score down. Definitely take the under.

Looks like JMU is getting back their All-CAA tight end this week.

Most of the duckettes anticipate hanging a half a hundred on the Tribe. You'd think the four horsemen from the apocalypse had resurfaced in H'Burg. Let's hope for the best.

I see 4 people predicting that, with one being an obvious joke.

I see far more predictions of a close/tough game that goes into the 4th.

Truth is hard to find these days.

We will know the truth Saturday. What's predicted on here means zippy.

That might be the best news I've heard today... and that includes the basketball gets and my nice run at the blackjack table.

RE: Game 7- James Madison
Clever move by the athletics folks, having students pick up tickets a few days before. Picking up a ticket is a small time commitment that one would do to "keep options open", but it gives you a strong incentive to show up on Saturday (lest you waste the ticket), whereas if you can just walk in you might be more likely to waffle, since there's no "cost" to deciding not to go after all. Somebody knows what she's doing!
