Guido Guida, who edits a basketball newsletter in Milan, tweets the following:

“Rookie/agent 2018/245 - 6-2 point guard David Cohn (William & Mary) is now represented by Daniel Poneman (Haight Brand Sports).”

I know it may sound nuts, but I think Cohn could actually make an NBA roster at some point. His game is well suited for the modern NBA.

David would have to totally change his body to be physical enough to endure an NBA season. His skills are there, but the defensive matchups would be difficult.

David struggled with the physicality of the CAA and defending its guards. The NBA is a completely different universe. Every opponent he would face is bigger, longer, quicker, and faster. He is a solid collegiate player, but doesn't have any elite traits to get by at the highest level like Steph Curry.

You're right... that sounds nuts. I love David Cohn, and I have no doubt that he will be an effective basketball coach on some level very soon. However, he is never going to be a player on an NBA roster.

Fortunately, defense in the NBA is optional.

Maybe that is the hold up on our new assistant coach. We need to wait for David to graduate before sliding him over. FYI, I am joking.

Coach Shaver better perform or David will take over in a few years.

Portsmouth Invitational Tournament tweeted:

“Marcus Thornton (2015 PIT, William & Mary) of the Canton Charge brought his shooting stroke to the NBA G League Mini-Camp in Chicago this week. He shot 18-of-31 (58.1%) from the field over 4 games. Thornton averaged 18.8 ppg this season for Canton.”

I know this is a popular sentiment, but I don't know that I fully agree with it.

The NBA has the best shooters in the world. The average score for an NBA team since 2000 is about 98-99 points. That's about 2.05 points per minute for each team. That equates to about 82ish points in a 40-minute college game (rather than a 48-minute NBA game). Considering these are the best shooters in the world, I don't think those numbers are outlandish.

College has an incredibly varied talent-level and the median score is usually around 74 points per team. That's about 1.85 points per minute played in a 40-minute game (for each team) and would be about 89 points in an NBA-length game. Again, given the variation in shooting talent, I don't find that gap too outlandish.

Dixon also came in fifth in the sprint. Thornton came in first in the sprint.

RE: Tribe Basketball in the Pro's
Of course it remains a huge longshot for Connor to play in the NBA. But wouldn't it be something out of left field if he did..ahead of Marcus, Daniel, Omar, Terry, etc.

Speaking of Marcus & Daniel, it appears that one or both are poised to make an NBA team next season.
They had great seasons this year and have attracted lots of attention.

Nice post workout interview for Connor.

Charlotte Hornets (@hornets) Tweeted:
"It would mean everything [to play for the Hornets]. I grew up around here a fan of the team. To play for my hometown team would be a dream come true." - Connor Burchfield (William & Mary) #BuzzCity https://t.co/hwHkQNeGQ4 https://twitter.com/hornets/status/10008...15426?s=17

Nothing to do with Tribe players in the pros, but...with respect to Jordan, West, Jabbar, Johnson etc before saying this.....has there ever been a basketball player like Labron James? He is a man among boys on an NBA court and still doing it while approaching his 34th birthday. His talents are immense.

RE: Tribe Basketball in the Pro's
Never know....If Connor gets the right situation, he could have a Steve Kerr type role in the NBA. When I watched so many players not being able to hit the side of the barn beyond the arc last night for the Celtics, as well as, the Cavaliers, I couldn't help but think of Connor. Both teams were 16 for 74 from three.
