Uhh, there's nothing "weak" about that schedule. You've got UGA and Southern Miss on the road, playing Tech again, former SoCon mates that were usually pretty good in Elon, CofC, and El Cid, and of course Mercer. All of the non-conference opponents except for Fairfield could easily be RPI top 150, if not top 100.

Then in conference you're skipping ULM from the west and bringing Texas STate back on the schedule, who is capable of giving almost anyone a game when they've got it together.

Unless you're complaining about name-recognition of schedule opponents, which would also be pretty dumb because we host as many major-conference teams as just about anyone in the Sun Belt.

Will be the first time the Eagles come to Boone since 2001 it seems.

Georgia is terrible. Do nothing to help RPI.

Well that's not true, UGA's RPI is always inflated.

I heard we were talking to the Cubs and Indians, but couldn't work it out.

Seriously though. What more do you want? What more can Georgia Southern do to strengthen its schedule aside from only plane 20 home games in order to take weekend series at more SEC and ACC schools?

Stop playing sub 250 teams. And playing Georgia and GT is nothing in baseball. That scheduling is automatic. Same as it is in every state for schools against the big, bad SEC and ACC teams.

No, it is not automatic. I skimmed through a decade of App State's schedules on http://www.goasu.com and the only home game I found with a P5 conference was a single game with Wake Forest. No UNC, NC State, or Duke. They haven't even hosted East Carolina (we hosted them once in 2009).

In terms of OWP, it will probably one of the top schedules in the Sun Belt.

RE: Georgia Southern 2018 Baseball Schedule
Based on a quick search, I think I see five total games scheduled against teams that were 200 or worse in RPI last year. They're all home games. Again, I'm sure we could scrap most of those for a weekend at Clemson or Florida or South Carolina, but that would make 40 wins that much tougher and would lead to us playing the majority of our games on the road.

Trust me...it is not automatic for every state. The SEC school in our state went as far as to play 7 games against schools RPI 300 plus a couple years ago to avoid playing the 3 in state schools.

Only automatic games we have every year are midweek home and homes with Ole Miss, Memphis, and SEMO, plus some sort of games against Missouri State. (I think it's going back to weekends this year after moving to midweek for a couple years)

Probably middle of the back. App doesn't have a stadium really, hard to get people to come to you unless you have made noise, like what Coastal has done in the past. We were always hindered by our stadium, but had a great program and location. App has nothin going for them in baseball.

Can’t play at Appy for half of the season because of the weather. Bad analogy. And Appys stadium holds 20 people.

I went back through UL and ULM's last 4 schedules. UL had only a home weekend series with Alabama. ULM had only a single home game with Michigan State. I could not see where either hosted LSU.

In the same time period we've had 6 home games with UGA, 4 home games with Tech, 5 home games with Clemson, and 3 home games with West Virginia.

So no, it doesn't appear to be automatic as chiefsfan says, and your complaints about our schedule seem unfounded.

Have to say if you're going to play sub 200 RPI teams from a purely RPI perspective you'd be better winning them on the road than at home where you only get .7 wins. Heaven help you if you lose any of those.

The Cajuns RPI last year got tanked by playing one home series against a historically bad team contributing 100 losses with no wins and an RPI drop from the 30's to the 50's. I don't think we deserved a post season bid, but we would have been in the discussion with an RPI in the 30's. BTW the Cajuns didn't play LSU at home because they wouldn't play us at home and not for lack of our willingness to play.
