Interesting list. Oregon had 5 of the top 33 players. Must be nice to have all that Nike money to promote the school brand. A preseason ranking of 1 or 2 doesn't hurt either.

And speaking of "bigs", Oregon is hoarding them. Six players 6'4" or taller, including a 6'6" and 6'7" player. Where are these girls coming from and what are they eating?

Certainly a big get. Sad we couldn't get more Top 100 recruits. Who wouldn't want to play all four seasons in those new shiny digs?

Somebody who thinks JMU is "just" a mid-major.

RE: WBB Recruiting/Signees
Early signing period begins a week from today. If my math and research is correct, Coach O has 6 'ships available and has 5 verbal commits. I'm hoping they all sign during the upcoming Nov 13-20 period.

I kind of expect us to hold 1 'ship open in the case we want to use in the spring signing period and/or possibly have a transfer heading our way. It's always difficult to project what attrition might take place, whether departing or incoming.

Expected 2020 Signing Class (6 available, 5 commitments)
5'7" Guard Jamia Hazell (Southeast Raleigh HS)
5'6" Guard Bailey Williams (Cosby HS, Richmond)
6'0" Wing Peyton McDaniel (Twin Valley HS, Elverson PA)
6'2" Post Stephanie Ouderkirk (Spotswood HS)
6'3" Post Annalicia Goodman (Heritage HS, Newport News)

RE: WBB Recruiting/Signees
In this "age of the transfer" I would think coaches have a good idea of who might be unhappy and looking for a change. The relationships that develop between coaching staffs, and players and their families allow for back door communications. It would not surprise me if a coach already knows a player is looking to leave after a season/semester and purposely holds a scholarship for them. It would also help balance out the classes a bit more, which might be another reason that scholarship is still in Coach O's pocket. We saw HCLR try to hold some scholarships at the beginning of his tenure to try to balance out the loss of 7 seniors. Perhaps Coach O does not want to replace 6 players every four years (not that I would blame him)?

And Jamia Hazell's LOI is received. All 5 expected Dukes are officially locked in. Well done by Coach O and his staff to secure a solid class. Congrats to all these young ladies and their families. Wonderful day.

Now, let's top off this great day with a big W over UMD tonight!!!!!

Stephanie Ouderkirk was just nominated for the McDonald's AA Game. That's a feather in Coach O's cap, landing her. Anyone seen her play this year? How tall is she now? I figure she must be still growing.

FWIW to add... Jamia Hazell also named to the McDonald's AA nominee list...

A JMU press release has her listed at 6-2 back in November
