Still not enough.
And the idea of a check that big for some pseudo higher learning institution with more than slightly dubious leadership to join an athletic conference is pretty gross, is that really what the church needs to be spending their money on?
They'd be the NCAA equivalent of Creflo Dollar
Although I kind of know who Creflo Dollar is I've never actually watched him in anything. I know what he stands for though. I may disagree with him but I have to say he has one of those names that is absolutely PERFECT for him.
Just say it....Creflo Dollar...perfect.
Kinda like when John Holmes adopted 'Johnny Wadd'.

Well being the CFP contract for the G5 is set it would be up to the rest of the G5 conferences to see if the new splinter conference would be part of the pool. Or they can all be treated as the Indy schools since they are separated from the G5 pool.
I could see App St leaving the SB with the eastern CUSA split and Texas St leaving the SB with the western CUSA split.
There are a few ways that can be done to reorganize 2 conferences of have 3 conferences of 9 schools each without additional FCS schools needing to be added.

Good for Liberty. I hope they have continued success. And they will.
They will land somewhere and be just fine.

More like University of Phoenix
Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
That would be more like except Phoenix is for profit and Liberty is private non profit so all their money from all the online degrees have been sheltered through their endowment.
5 years ago Liberty's endowment was $120 million now after their rapid online expansion they have channeled all their profits to the endowment = $1 billion
Riiight...
Go look up how endowments are calculated for universities and then show us all how Liberty has an endowment of $1B after being nearly bakrupt as recently as 20 years ago. There is a reason why university Presidents want nothing to do with them.

I don't see App State going anywhere without Georgia Southern coming along in some form or fashion. They have one of the strongest G5 rivalries that's been going for 24 straight years.
Still interesting some of you think anyone from the SBC wants to go to CUSA... you know, since your TV contract is raining money and because your results lately have been so impressive... not to mention your commissioner is more of a goon than Karl Benson.

I remember hearing the same thing about Louisville and Cincinnati. Take a look at where the two are now. If one institution thinks it can better themselves then there is no package deal.

But you'd jump all over the chance to chance to conference up with Notre Dame, BYU, Baylor and SMU (just to name a few) now wouldn't you?
Wake Forrest, St. Joseph's, and St. John's are a few others, and there are many more.
Don't forget TCU. They even have a School of Divinity on their campus.
Yes, TCU, Depaul, St. Mary's, Davidson, Dayton ... there are actually a number of religion backed universities.

thick as thieves. only a P5 offer could split them up.

In Jones' 4 years thus far coaching at ODU they have certainly been competitive when playing the A10. His record is 6 wins and 8 losses playing against George Mason, Rhode Island, St. Joe's, St. Louis, Richmond, and VCU. Three of those eight losses came in his first season where he took over a team that won just 5 games the year before.
In that same 4 year period at ODU he has 5 wins and 4 losses against Marshall.

I don't get it. Is it that most of you just don't like Christianity or that you are threatened by them athletically?

My reasoning is that we don't need two more teams. If we add LU, we'd have to add someone else to balance it out. If we add JMU and LU, does that push MT and WKU west?
And, do they really add that much? I mean, who watches the Liberty Channel? And do you think they'd carry ALL of the CUSA games? I doubt it.

The mere thought that Liberty --or anyone else for that matter-- would have to pay FAU, FIU and Charlotte a large fee just to join CUSA, is absurd. Truth is, those 3 have been dead weight around CUSA's neck ever since they were invited. Sad, but true.

You should write an email to your AD about it if it irks you that much:
Dear Tommy,
I'm on a message board complaining about a hypothetical situation and I want to express my displeasure...

I'm not sure why people keep trying to put Liberty in this conference. If this story is true, clearly the league has no interest, which is fantastic.

First and foremost, we have 13 public schools and our lone private is not religiously affiliated.
Further, Jerry Falwell's brand of Christianity is not the church I was raised in, whichfor southern Baptists, was a pretty open minded and welcoming congregation.
Lastly, I take great offense to creationism and young earth being taught as science.
We have enough people in this country willfully denying science as it is, without an accredited university teachimg it's students that the earth is 2,000 years old and calling it science.
**** Liberty.

This. And no matter how good the startups and moveups are, I don't want to be in a division that is 100% teams that haven't even been FBS a decade. If MTSU gets pushed west and Marshall and WKU are with ODU, Charlotte, FIU, FAU, JMU, LU it's going to be the weakest perceived division in the entire nation. We're already pretty damn close, maybe 4th from the bottom, not including this season, which is bad. I don't want to see how low we can go.

**** Liberty.
So... you take offense that a private university, founded on Christian principles, teaches what their holy book says? And you'd rather them ignore parts of that holy book and instead go more along with what your personal scientific beliefs are?
That makes a lot of sense.
Are you worried that Liberty is somehow going to infect other non-religious schools, like MT, with the creationism teachings? That doesn't happen and it's not going to happen.
I don't agree with things Liberty does, but that certainly wouldn't warrant a "**** Liberty" from me.
Sounds look you're not as open-minded as you like to portray.
