Because many veterans get good paying jobs because of their military experience. I know countless people in law enforcement that went straight from the military right into the PD, customs, border patrol etc etc.

Not to mention mechanics and a number of other industries. My nephew just got a great paying job as an airline mechanic in Tucson.

I'm guessing the vast majority of army vets don't go to college.

I don't see anything in the OP or the linked article or anywhere suggesting that it is an official position. In fact, they all make it pretty clear that it's not. That doesn't mean it didn't happen.

I get that. I don't know why it's newsworthy. I just took it as a professor or someone tied to the University. It's not newsworthy in any other sense. Very good chance it's a false flag. I want to say the most common one that got the use of the term in the common vernacular, was a California professor (Berkley? UCLA? I forget which), where he even pumps up his volunteers by referring to them as such.

Well that's just your guess. We hear countless stories of vets that come back and struggle to re-assimilate back into society, etc. Glad to hear you've heard of a few that did well without college, and yes I know college isn't for everyone, but I'd like to think lots of vets attend college especially with the GI Bill, etc..
