2017 Football: Predict UC's record
I vaguely recall a similar thread awhile ago, but it's now game week so I thought I'd include a poll where you can officially show your prognostic ability absent any hedging and prove your post-season "I told you so..." (I intentionally excluded 0-12 btw on general principles.)

Stole this from UCGrad1992 for those who want to refresh on the schedule (including our all time W-L records):

Quote:Austin Puke - who gives a ratz ayzz!
@ Meechigan 0-0
@ Miami, OH 27-27-1
@ Navy 0-1
Marshall 3-1
UCF 1-1
SMU 2-0
@ USF 8-6
@ Tulane 4-9
Temple 7-11-1
@ ECU 8-12
UConn 10-3

7-5.

I think we actually will be much more improved across the board. However, this offense is comprised of most of the same guys who didn't score a TD for over a month last year. Hopefully I am wrong and Denbrock's offense fits these guys like a glove.

RE: 2017 Football: Predict UC's record
  • Austin Peay - W
    Lol
  • @ Michigan - L
Sorry, I just don't see us making that much progress in 1 off season.
  • @ Miami, OH - W
We haven't lost to these guys since our players were in elementary school, and still beat them last year with our coach in la-la land.
  • @ Navy - ?
I admittedly don't know much about the triple option, but it seems like it's hard to predict how well it will work in any given game. I'm open to being enlightened by someone who understands this offense. Probably a L.
  • Marshall - W
They were worse than us last year.
  • UCF - ?
They beat us 24 - 3 last year at Bright House, but we have a Fickell now and are at home.
  • SMU - W
They showed flashes of brilliance last year, but also suffered unexplainable humiliating losses. We pull this one out with new coaches at Nippert.
  • @ USF - ?
Probably L, but Strong at USF is still an unknown.
  • @ Tulane - W
They were comparable to us last year, but Fickell and co. should have made more progress this off season than Tulane.
  • Temple - ?
New coach and IIRC, they lost some key players.
  • @ ECU - W
Fickell refuses to run a single touchdown play; Andrew Gantz scores 11 field goals to beat them.
  • UConn - W
They barely beat us last year at their house.

I can see us winning 1 or 2 of my ?s, but also dropping 1 or 2 Ws. Final record between 6-6 and 8-4.

RE: 2017 Football: Predict UC's record
If anyone wants to double check, doss2 posted a thread on the second page of this board for 2017 predictions. I said then (April 22) the Cats would finish 7-5 with a bowl win. I'm sticking to my original prediction because I believe our QB play just won't get us in the upper tier of the league. However, overall team effort, discipline, better D and football IQ will result in 3 more wins over last year. Coupled with winning a poop bowl will be a tremendous boost and foundation to build on for an even better year next year.

My homer, glass half full, rosy glasses (as opposed to palm), blinded by new staff's attitude, every NFL team has a chance on draft day prediction is 8-4. I'm just feeling 8-4. To me 7-5 or better and I would be pretty happy. I predict 8-4 though.

Is that a Rosie Palmer joke?

I can easily see 8 - 4 this season. Many losses last year seemed to be due to poor mental and physical conditioning, which should be vastly improved even in year 1.

RE: 2017 Football: Predict UC's record
My oh my, we were an optimistic group before the 2017 season. With somebody starting a new poll for this year, I wasn't sure if previous season pickers were given their proper due. Even though NONE of us foresaw anything less than than 6 wins, much less the actual measly 4-8 season we had, I prefer to look at it as we were just a little ahead of the curve looking at our future.

Feels like a stretch to say they deserve belated bragging rights, but credit to apoe, Bang Burger, Bearcats#1, Billy_Bearcat, daap_bearcat97, DownOnRohs, Flying Bearcat, robertfoshizzle for coming closest with their 6-6 predictions.

FB 2019 predictions
versus 2018:

Trade:
UCLA away to home
AL A&M for OSU
OU @ home for Marshall away
Tulane home for UH away
Navy for Tulsa both home
SMU for Memphis both away
Miami neutral for Miami home

Same five AAC East just flip home and away. Temple and UCF at home helps, UConn and ECU the where should not matter. By the time we play @USF they should be in annual swoon.

Best 11-1 and win AAC at Nippert and NY6
Worst 7-5 and Toilet Bowl
Likely 9-3 and Toilet Bowl
