Oh, it's only one bag per family? I thought each person could bring in a bag. If that is not the case, then I stand corrected. Personally, having a baby is the only reason I would bring a bag in.

Why not set up a "Families with toddlers section" ? MLB has had family friendly zones for 20 years.

Parents pay $99 each and get a card for each kid of their own to get them in free. (The card idea is to cut off families from bringing all the neighborhood kids under 5 for free.) Then they get their whole section for the little ones to scramble around in. Even wall the darn thing off and give that section their own bathroom, or put it in the end zone and build a shade over it, so mom doesn't have to leave when the baby gets hot or has to go crazy packing up if it looks like it might rain in the next 30 minutes.

This is easy to fix and it builds fans too. I hope the AD's office gets a clue.

Seems like it would be pretty simple to find a solution to this, right? A $10 youth ticket or free for babies in arms also does the trick.

I told the ticket office as well as Mark that this is not a common policy whatsoever among our peers. While the ticket office agreed the policy didn't make a lot of sense in light of that, it didn't seem to matter much to the AD at all.

Is this the policy among schools in conferences we want to be in, or just the policy in schools in C-USA? I am weary of calling C-USA schools our "peers" when it seems the consensus is we want to "move up" into a better conference.

Edit: I also totally disagree with everyone who says a baby doesn't take up extra space. Even if you sit that baby in your lap, you need an entire extra bag of stuff just for the child. Pretending that babies are a net-zero effect on attendance seems disingenuous.

Just checked the Carolina Panthers policy (since we hope that our guys are in the NFL one day, after all) and they allow children 12 months old and younger in for free as long as they sit in parent's lap.

Women typically carry purses or diaper bags. I would have a small, clear bag regardless of whether or not I had my baby/kid with me.

So...people bring in an extra, or larger, bag because of the baby? And you claim that point was trolling?

The clear bags are very small. You cannot bring in a bigger bag. I'm sure you could bring in an extra one for your baby if you really wanted to. Regardless, I just don't see how extra bags that will sit at your feet matter in the grand scheme of things. It's not worth losing entire young families as potential fans because of bags.

RE: Tickets for Babies and Toddlers
Someone make sure Mr. Ingram purchases tickets for his children to attend on game day. They are not UAB employees and therefore should have a ticket.

I don't see this as a problem.

Kentucky doesnt require young kids to have a ticket, Oregon doesnt. But thats just SEC and Pac 12, why would we want to be like them? In fact, most college teams don't require tickets for newborns. Most pro teams don't. It's pretty standard to do it that way because parents aren't generally comfortable leaving their very young kids with other people, so if you want parents to come to games, you make it easy for them to bring their young kids with them.

I have brought my kids in the past when they were infants, and I have never had to have a ticket for them. Only when they were bigger (like age 3) did we start using tickets for them.

So I agree.

A wife of ANOTHER former player just messaged me saying they felt a little slighted when they were asked to pay for tickets period, much less one for their little baby. In my opinion, that is unacceptable. What a way to treat your former players...

Atlanta Braves require tix for kids 3yo & up. Kids under 2, no ticket but must sit on Mom or Dad's lap.

Former players = future H.S. coaches, our best ambassadors, and potentially our largest donors. The Blazer Club should be free to every former player &+1 every Saturday.

Are you saying club seating should be free for every former athlete? If so where you gonna put the donors?

That's going a little far. What happens in 20 years when you have more players wanting g to take advantage of it than you have seats available?

Every former football player should get free tix to every home football game, by request.

The donors can sit in ...seats ???

Ah, I see, so call the Blazer Football Alumni the Dragons Club, The Green Machine, or something else. But give them tickets either way.

Yeah I don't know about that. But I do see how it must feel slightly like a slap in the face to them, at least for this first return game. If anyone should get their tiny kids in free, it should be former football players coming back for the rebirth of their team.
