With the Sun Belt moving forward as a 10-team league, the rotation of opponents for each team has been reset. The conference will maintain its eight-game schedule and teams will continue to play four home games and four away games. Schools will play each team within their division every season — two at home and two away — and also of note, conference athletic directors voted in favor of having USA and Troy play every season despite not being in the same division.


Mark my words, when south al and or troy don't play someone because of their "permanent cross divisional rivalry" they'll be a big ole fuss (not saying i'm against it just...can't believe they're not going cross divisional rivalries).

Nope. In fact, despite app going to Jonesboro next year, it appears astate will NOT return that trip to Boone in 2019

I think it was assumed that because USA and Troy were playing every year, that every team in the league would have a permanent cross division rival.

That's not the case.

It appears based on the press release, the AD's voted and approved for South Al and Troy to be permanent cross divisional rivals.

BUT, everyone else will play rotational schedules (everything will apparently restart next year) For example, App will travel to jonesboro to play in 2018, BUT Astate will not return that trip. Instead, they'll go to Troy in 2019, though both red wolves and trojans won't play next season.

It's obvious App isn't cross division rivals with Ark State because they don't play yet again in 2019. App doesn't play ULM in 2018. Georgia Southern also misses Louisiana next year.

It looks like Troy and South are the only annual rivals across divisions.

Interesting. The in-state cross-divisional is apparently a big enough draw to be fought for.

But apparently not enough of the reat are confident enough about having a permanent cross-divisional rival to pull the trigger.

I really wanted a permanent series against Arkansas State. At least it will be 8 years out of 10, in the long run.

I get the impression outside of Troy/USA it was never discussed, and if that was the case...why not? Because once again, I don't see how geography alone is enough to justify two of your 10 schools playing a permanent cross divisional foe and everyone else rotates

If we are in the access bowl discussion in 2019 we deserve some sort of trophy. Our road games are brutal. Of course there is no telling who will be good or bad 2/3 years from now, but that doesn't look particularly promising.
