CAA ANNOUNCES 2017-18 MEN’S BASKETBALL CONFERENCE SCHEDULE



RICHMOND, Va. (August 15, 2017) – The Colonial Athletic Association has announced its men’s basketball conference schedule for the 2017-18 campaign.



The conference will once again conduct an 18-game league schedule with all 10 CAA teams facing each other at home and on the road. The regular-season slate opens on Saturday, December 30 with a full schedule of five games and concludes on Saturday, February 24. Teams will open with a stretch of four league contests over nine days before transitioning to a Thursday/Saturday format throughout the rest of the season.



The 2018 CAA Men’s Basketball Championship will be held March 3-6 at the North Charleston Coliseum in North Charleston, S.C. for the second year in a row.



In 2016-17, the CAA was ranked 11th among the nation’s 32 Division I conferences in the final NCAA RPI. Three CAA teams reached the 20-win mark and the league had seven squads with at least 15 victories.



Seven players from last year’s All-CAA squad return this season, led by first-team selection Joe Chealey of the College of Charleston. Also back are second-team members Tyler Seibring of Elon, Jarrell Brantley of the College of Charleston and Justin Wright-Foreman of Hofstra. The league welcomes back 64% (32-of-50) of its starters from a year ago.

Agree, but that may be to our benefit, since their young team may be tougher later on in conference play.

Seems like in the past they made a point to never have more than two games in a row on the road, but this year, there are two clusters of three in a row. Tough stretches.

What's worse about the JMU game is it's like a day before the students move back in. Would've been nice to have a fuller, louder Kaplan for that one.

Charter Day is February 9.

Yes and Yes. CBS' cable sports network will broadcast the semis and finals.
