North Dakota is a good example of what FCS championships can do for recognition. What football fan doesnt know about their program with the championships and wins vs the bigs?

You apparently...

Apparently you. You don't want your bobcats to play them I promise. The opportunity to get beat will make most FBS schools look elsewhere.

S

Except it's not North Dakota. It's north Dakota State. The only reason they have such recognition is because they've beaten a lot of p5s. The streak helps. But if it wasn't such a ridiculous streak no one would hear about it.
B

Yes, NDSU thanks for the correction. But that is my point, they have won the 1AA championships and beat the bigs. They have gotten nationally well deserved recongnition for it. App and GS was in that boat before turning FBS.

You kinda defeated your own point by not even being able to remember which school it was. I had never heard of GS until they joined us and the only reason I had heard of App was because of "The Longest Yard" and the Michigan game.

I had never heard of Texas State before joining the Sun Belt. I'm still not convinced y'all exist.

If you'll be so good as to take a brief trip down memory lane, and revisit your 2005 season, I'm sure that our existence will come back to you in all of its Maroon and Gold Glory . . . .

. . not meant as a slight either . . .

To be fair, if he's my age or younger he probably didn't follow GS then because FCS. So he wouldn't even know about that game if not for the mention of it on here. I wouldn't have either.

That was a great game. My first year at TXST. Only home game I missed all season. Watched on ESPN2.
GS was up big at one point and we had a huge comeback. 50-35 was the final, I remember without having to look it up. Barrick Nealy did Barrick Nealy things.

I was on a cruise when this game was played . . . The second half occurred during our "scheduled" (formal) dining time. I kept excusing myself from the table to run down a deck to one of the bars to get score updates on the "crawl" at the bottom of the screen. My family didn't understand where I kept "running off" to. Explained it once the game went final. It was awesome!

How many timed did you have to explain that D1AA wasn't D2?

03-lmfao Actually, that wasn't much of a problem. My wife's a Bobcat, as is one of my Sisters-in-law (also on the cruise). It was one of those extended family things, celebrating the 50th Anniversary of My wife's parents . . .

I respect and admire David Cutcliffe as much as any coach in sports. On and off the field he is impressive as can be. He took over the worst P5 programs in the land and ked them to a 10-2 start and a division crown in 2013.

But they're one P5 school I would be very disappointed if App accepted a 2 for 1 from. Two games, four games, etc., I'd love it. But App outdraws them almost every year. They don't have a financial argument for us going on the road twice for only one home game.
