RE: 2017 SBC Preseason Poll
For the Cajuns this year, I think it's all about the QB. We have good offensive lines RB's, and WR's. On defense we have good line and backs. The LB's are a bit unknown but have promise. If we have any passing ability out of the QB (which we didn't the last two years) we could be pretty interesting. That being said, I think we're about where we should be in the rankings which is middle of the pack.

I seem to remember GS and App getting little love in 2014, then proceeding to finish 1 and 3 respectively. Watch out for Coastal. That being said.......we gonna kick Coastal's ass!

Idaho, Georgia Southern, and Coastal are all probably too low. Coastal's not going to be a doormat, Georgia Southern seems to be righting the ship, and Idaho may be able to repeat the success they had last year.

USA, ULM, and NMSU aren't going to be as bad as they have been in years passed.

ULM didn't lose that many players and are in the second year with staff. We finished 7th last year but we drop down to 9 now. Oh well it's a preseason poll. We will finish higher than 9th.

You guys showed improvement toward the end of the year. Looking for good things from you guys.

RE: 2017 SBC Preseason Poll
My two cents

1. App State - plenty good to begin with and the easiest schedule they could hope for

2. Troy - I don't think they're dominant, but hard to argue with past success and three years worth of a coach/QB combo

3. Arkansas State - I honestly don't think they will finish here, but they find ways to win every year

4. South Alabama - I'm tempted to put them lower, but Dallas Davis is a tough S.O.B. and the defense should be good.

5. Georgia Southern - If Cook gets the offense back on track, rumors of the Eagles' demise will have been wildly overstated. Still plenty of talent.

6. UL Monroe - Call me crazy, but I liked what I saw at the end of 2016 and the Warhawks have some winnable conference games early on.

7. Idaho - Great season last year. Linehan is back and will be good, but a lot was lost in other places. Still a possible bowl team.

8. UL Lafayette - The Cajuns aren't starved for talent, but it will be tough to replace a QB and star RB off of what was a mostly average team

9. New Mexico State - Honestly just don't know. I know some people are high on them, but I'm not knowledgeable enough about the Aggies to see bright spots.

10. Georgia State - No one went to their games back when November home dates occurred at room temperature. A new coach without much more talent leads only to more scenic photos of losses

11. Texas State - Maybe they're taking notes from the soon-to-be World Series champion Astros... You have to REALLY bottom out if you want the best possible bounce-back

12. Coastal Carolina - Get'em while they're down. They lost too many contributors to pull an App or GS in their first year, but I seriously doubt they'll be in the cellar next season.

I don't know if we will be or not, but we will be much better on offense. We're way deeper at receiver this year, and we added an All-SBC type running back behind Chunn. With a senior QB, I can't see us not taking a huge step forward.

Could very well be. I've only seen Troy play a full game twice outside of their three games with GS. I have no doubt that Troy can win, but I'm also sure I have doubts due to some amount of bias since the Eagles seem to have your number for whatever reason.

Conversely, a morbidly ironic twist probably has Georgia Southern fans thinking more of Georgia State than pretty much anyone else. The Panthers were and probably will be objectively bad, but when they play two great games in a row against you, opinions get skewed.

Just a reminder that the SBC Preseason Poll has only been right twice in the last 7 years, and in both cases, it successfully managed to pick one half of what turned out to be a shared title.

Jaw Juh Suthrn fans know all about easy conference schedules leading to a conference championship.

Maybe, but really, who is betting against APP? The media and coaches are not the only ones that believe they'll be in the #1 spot at the end of the year.

It's funny how that always gets brought up. Seems like everyone remembers us not playing stAte but no one remembers them losing 3 conference games and going 6-6 without our help.

Playing the Cajuns would have been fun that year, but smacking you guys around at home and taking care of 4th place Texas State on the road proved plenty.

This is why you have to take preseason polls with a grain of salt. Heard all season in 2014 about us avoiding the #1 and #2 teams, but the #1 team finished #2 and the #2 team finished #5.

Playing those two certainly would have made our schedule more difficult but I'm not sure the outcome would have been different.
