I mean Memphis can't be as diverse as Atlanta and even here I have never seen the tension that comes out some of these threads .

Memphis is no better or worse than most places I have been. Atlanta, Jackson, Dallas, Florida. In fact it may be a little better than most for the fact that Memphis is 50-50 and has been for a long time. We all work and shop and all that together. Many places do not mix at all. For example, Nashville and Dallas has deep divisions, but because it is not even in racial makeup the problem doesn't get discussed as much. But Memphis loves to feed on our problems and we tend to make them out to be the worst on the planet. But of course, we have have problems, no doubt. But more than all other places...NO.

What? Memphis is incredibly segregated. I can go to the Kroger on Shelby Drive and Elvis Presley and not see a single white person and then go to the Kroger on Union and there's white people everywhere? Why is that?

The last time I was in Memphis I went to the Nike store off of Elvis Presley and asked the cashier where the closest mall was. They directed me to Whitehaven Plaza where I was the only white person the entire time I spent in there. I was hoping to pick up some inexpensive Tiger gear.

Everyone was nice to me.
