Because they smell blood and are licking their lips at the thought of it especially La Tech and StAte fans. They know that if ULM goes then that opens the door for schools like North Texas and such to consider it too. Way less teams to compete with for recruits in that region. La Tech fans have specifically mentioned that reason in the thread on the CUSA board.

Louisiana Tech recruits higher quality players than ULM or Ark State.

I didn't mean to be degrading but was just responding in kind to the previous poster. I think Ark St has a good athletic program. We played regularly at one time and I really enjoyed the basketball even though we lost to you most of the time. It was a good, however brief, rivalry.

I suspect ULM wants to keep spots open so they can step in when a big team needs to fill schedule holes quickly for $$$$.

After almost beating FSU I cant imagine them shutting down the program now.
