are we going to take any flyers on guys who perhaps aren't 100% academically? We seem to have passed on a couple of guys for that reason. The names I had in mind were Delcambre on New Iberia and Bartholomew of West St John. Of course with this staff no surprises would be a surprise.

It is my understanding that Tulane doesn't take any partial or non-qualifiers. Tulane also doesn't use the NCAA sliding scale in order to qualify. If that is what you are asking. If you want to know if we are taking 'exceptions' to Tulane's standards, the answer is yes. I hope this helps.

The answer to the quesiton posed by long green is not likely. Many schools i.e. LSU sign several kids annually who do not have their qualification in order, but have a chance to do so before the start of the fall semester. Tulane has done so on very rare occassions. Few of those that eventually qualified have stuck with the program through graduation.

djh confused late qualifiers with partial qualifiers. A late qualifier is one who qualifies after signing day. A partial qualifier is one that is allowed to enter school without ever meeting all of the qualifiers.

I think understand late qualifiers. They sign the LOI, but are not allowed to enter school if they don't qualify befoe school starts, correct? But I've always been curious about so-called partial qualifiers. If they enter school, but don't qualify, how do they ever get to play? I would assume that at some point they try to take the test again while in school. Is that correct? Are they given a scholarship while this is going on, and do they count against your scholarship total?

Since Tulane does not and has not taken partial qualifieers I'm a little rusty on the facts. But if I remember correctly partial qualifiers can enter the college of their choice. They are not allowed to participate with the team in any fashion, practice, work out, use facilities (weight room, etc.) or work with coaches. They lose a year of team involvement. They must take a certain number of credit hour courses and pass. Once they establish themselves as a student in good standing they can be allowed to join the team in the fall. I don't think they receive scholarship money while on ptobation.
