Clemson, East Carolina represented with school-themed NASCAR paint jobs

It’s no secret that two of the most popular sports in the Southeastern part of the country are college football and NASCAR. Now the two are coming together once again it appears.

Rick Ware Racing has partnered with both East Carolina and Clemson to showcase the two schools with some themed paint jobs on the #51 Chevy car driven by Cody Ware. The Pirates’ car was bumping and grinding at Sunday’s AAA 400 Drive for Autism while the Tigers will see their car celebrate the school’s recent College Football Playoff national title next week at the Pocono 400 and then later in the season at Darlington.

How can you not like that ECU logo? That is one mean looking pirate.

They have been doing this for quite a few years. Good to see Clemson get recognized.

What's the point? How does this sort of advertising help either university?

This will be the second Clemson themed stock car this season.

Andy Hillenberg's team ran this scheme in the ARCA races at Daytona and Talledega.



The hoods from each car will be auctioned off with the proceeds from the Daytona hood going to the Clemson Foundation and the Talledega hood going to the Double H Rance, a camp for kids with serious illnesses.

Oh and driver Ed Pompa's son graduated from Clemson


But the first Clemson stock car theme was ran back in 2000 by Jack Roush and driver Kevin LePage.



The proceeds from the Clemson themed memorabilia went to the Jack Roush Motorsports Scholarship Fund, which is overseen by Clemson's Brooks Institute for Sports Science.

There is no bad publicity. it helps in the same way it does for hundreds of other advertisers who pay big money to get their name on a car.
