Yeah, LaBounty's made a few of those this year. End of 5. Bell is struggling.

Meanwhile, looks like Bell is in the zone now (no jinx). That was a quick 1,2,3.

Bell looks lost (trying to fix what you just did). The announcers thought it was a timing thing as well.

Just for you HC... Bell continues to look lost on the mound.

MSU adds a couple in the 6th. 6-3 Jags. Hope we can get at least 1 more inning from Bell.

RE: NCAA Tournament Thread
Just chiming in to be bitter as ****.

I'm pulling for USA and you guys deserve every bit of the auto bit... just having a tough time looking at a fatally flawed RPI index, a selection committee's undying allegiance to said system, and a GS team that - even after winning 38 games and finishing above .500 against the top half of the Sun Belt - apparently couldn't even be considered for a 4-seed.

Maybe I'll try to calm down as I watch both ACC 1-seeds fall and convince myself that getting that sixth or seventh at-large from the conference into the mix was totally the right call.

RE: NCAA Tournament Thread
I hear ya CC. Coach Calvi spoke to that some in a press conference yesterday. Said the Sun Belt is a top 10 league and sometimes your OOC opponents aren't as strong as they usually are. Said in 2015 USA won the Sun Belt regular season but lost in the 12th inning of the conference tournament and we sat at home.

Don't get me wrong, our RPI was around where yours is now, and it had some to do with our OOC opponents not being as good as expected despite scheduling what you thought was a tough schedule, and Coach Calvi has spoke highly of several SBC teams, including GS. He said our championship game was between 2 regional teams. We gotta win more OOC games as a league next year and make it a non-issue.

Nope. We're going to need another run or two before this is done.

Ugh. We have 6 runs, but have left a ton on base, and I don't feel comfortable with only a 3-run lead. Need Bell to come through here and I'd like another insurance run if we can get it.

Agree with you all the way.

Calvin said the same about Most of the top SBC teams in the presser right after the title game.

Our fans have gripes about how we didn't sweep anybody in conference play, but I don't think it would have mattered. What killed us was the fact that Mercer fell off a cliff after we swept them and GT/UGA/Kennesaw St all had bad years at the same time. When a total of nine games that figure to be RPI bumps all end up hurting you, it's a lost cause. We could have won 42 or 43 and still might have been left out.

RE: NCAA Tournament Thread
Randy Bell gets 3 pop-up outs. Going to the 8th, Jags up 6-3.

For those reading: you're Coach Calvi. Randy Bell has pitched well. He's at 100-104 pitches or so. He is still strong but not quite as strong. In the bottom of the 8th MSU sends #3-4-5 to the plate. Who pitches in the bottom of the 8th? Bell or our closer Peacock?

I gotta go Bell until we have to make a change.

Yeah. And 12th inning loss was to Louisiana in the championship game. Very similar situation for the 2015 Jags and 2017 Eagles.

Keep Bell in until they get 2 on. Once a base runner gets on I've have Peacock throwing. I wish I had more confidence in our pen.

3 more outs. Randy da man. I'd let him go for it in the 9th with a short leash. He grew up a Dawg fan, how sweet would it be to go 9 innings.

Absolutely. It'd be against what, the 6-7-8 hitters? If he can get a complete game our lack of pitching depth becomes a little less of an issue in future games -- but is still a big thing we will have to manage.

One base runner and I would put Peacock in. Come on Randy!
