UTSA thread
Just announced that tonight's game will be a 5pm first pitch. Not 6. Some storms coming through Texas Hill Country tonight.

Doing some research on the Roadrunners. Looks like their ace is pretty solid. Tyler Giovanoni, 3.41 ERA/1.13 WHIP. Bullpen is iffy though. Their closer/stopper Chris Muller (1.74 ERA/0.84 WHIP) was shut down about a month ago. Need to run up the pitch count on their starters.

Something to watch for tonight is how many times Cox mentions that Roadrunner Field is nicknamed "The Bird Bath".

Looks like Braley isn't scheduled to pitch Saturday. Looks like Berry wants to throw him in the first round in Biloxi.

Park is really small......UTSA and the AAA San Antonio Missions are in discussions to share a new downtown ballpark if approved. Smart partnership if it ends up working out.

Saw that Gino is coming to one of the casinos on the coast. Didn't even know he was still alive.

RE: UTSA thread
Here's a stat comparison:

Stat: USM to UTSA
Record: 41-12, 24-6 to 28-23. 15-12
USM road record: 14-5
UTSA home record: 15-13

Batting:
AVG: .313 to .301
Runs: 448 to 351
Runs per game: 8.5 to 6.9
HR: 68 to 52
SB: 67 of 85 to 42 of 54
K/BB/HBP: 407/281/70 to 338/204/46
Sac Bunts: 35 to 18

Hitting wise they are more similar to us than many of the CUSA teams have been. We strike out more but we also get walked/hbp more. They have 4 players with 8 or more HRs while we have 4 with 9 or more. We have 8 players hitting over .300 with a 9th at .295 while they have 6 players hitting over .300 with a 7th one at .298. We have 3 players with 10 or more SB (10, 11, 16) while UTSA's leader has 8. We are more likely to advance runners with sacrifice bunts as well.

Pitching:
AVG: .257 to .271
Runs: 247 to 280
Runs per game: 4.6 to 5.5
HR: 36 to 33
SB: 43 of 58 to 49 of 68
K/BB/HBP: 481/172/61 to 321/213/37
Shutouts: 5 to 3
Fielding errors: 50 to 52

Pitching wise is somewhat more of the same as the hitting. Both teams have allowed nearly the same amount of HRs and SBs and made practically the same amount of errors. Our pitchers strike out quite a bit more hitters and walk a few less than UTSA does but we have more HBP.

Apparently they have a bunch of fans that sit by the visiting dugout and heckle the **** out of opposing players. You can sorta see what I'm talking about in that pic. Also it was noted in the HA live chat that the ball travels well out there.

RE: UTSA thread
First pitch from San Antonio is at 5.

Lineup (and it's an interesting one)...

1) Burdeaux - 1B
2) Irby - RF
3) Wallner - LF
4) Braley - 3B
5) Keating - CF
6) Hadley - DH
7) Donaldson - C
8) Maack - 2B
9) Boyd - SS

Smith pitching.

So, Keating and Maack in vs the righty (no Slater or Guidry). Hadley DHing. Wallner batting before Braley.

Their last Saturday home game (2 weeks ago) had 205 in attendance while their midweek home game vs Baylor two nights ago drew a whopping 310 fans.

No Viaene either.....he's usually an automatic starter against righties.

UTSA actually going with a lefty tonight. Steven Dressler (4.25 ERA/1.41 WHIP). Giovanoni was listed as the Thursday starter on both game notes.
