The problem with Liberty is why they get the green light, but other more deserving FCS schools that wants to be in FBS can't get invited. NCAA should green light other schools.

Stony Brook H/H with P5 schools at Yankee Stadium.
Jacksonville State
Eastern Kentucky
Chattanooga
Northern Iowa
North Dakota State
Eastern Washington
South Dakota State
Illinois State
Youngstown State
Most of these schools could boast the SoS for any P5 schools than Liberty. Liberty will be the punching bag team against other FBS.

RE: Trump announces Liberty's FBS schedule
Oklahoma 100, Liberty 0 will be the final score. That is the headlines I would be seeing in the future. Liberty have no history ever beating a P5 school. Yeah, they have beaten the low end G5 programs.

Youngstown State beat Pittsburgh
North Dakota State beat Kansas, Kansas State, Iowa State, Minnesota
Jacksonville State beat Ole Miss.
Northern Iowa beat Iowa State
Eastern Washington beat Oregon State and Washington State
Liberty beat Crickets, they beat nobody in P5.

So, I am stating facts that Liberty have never beaten a P5 school, and never get the loved from ESPN? I just don't think you understand how college football works, and who the networks wants to move up for money purposes. I do not think Liberty will ever be on ESPN at all.

I have been a supporter of allowing FCS school to move to FBS Independent. Liberty is the only one that pursued independent and I think was about to challenge the rule in court as well try religious discrimination since Liberty met NCAA requirements and had funding.

IMHO, NCAA provided the waiver in an effort to avoid court and knows the other schools don't have the financial ability to challenge them since they are public and not private. I support an FCS if the wish to try to be FBS independent and can show they can meet the requirements. It does open the door for private FCS schools. 04-cheers

I think some of these FCS public schools might be able to move to D1 as Independents and still get people to schedule them. Eastern Washington might be able to do a schedule agreement with the MWC, BYU and New Mexico State at the end of the year. They seemed to get 2 PAC 12 teams a year the past couple of years.

North Dakota State might be able to get schools line up to play them for SoS for the P5.

Jacksonville State might be able to get a game with an SEC school near the end of the year.

If the FBS decides to do what Big 10 schools? I do think some of the public FCS could be allow to move up to help filled out schedules of the FBS teams.

RE: Trump announces Liberty's FBS schedule
I guess technically there is the "former FBS conference" loophole that was made for the WAC. If you had a block of western schools who wanted to move, there is always that option. Part of the reorganization might be the donor conference agreeing to take some of the existing WAC schools, as the donor conference will need to rebuild its own ranks to meet broader Division I requirements.

Not a Stony Brook home game. That's like an hour and a half away.

The problem for Liberty University is what conference will let them in. I've been at the school & the faculty are very nice and the librarians are very nice. It's an issue whether or not they're acceptable to other universities.

Have argued that the WAC exemption is now worthless, as a conference like the CAA or Big Sky could get an FBS waiver too, only for eight conference teams not one like Liberty. Moving up with numbers make scheduling so much easier and cheaper. Second year transition teams can play other 2nd year teams and my belief is that those games count for the FBS transition.

RE: Trump announces Liberty's FBS schedule
I never understood why so many trash Liberty - but talk about exposure, having POTUS handle your commencement and showing off great optics of 50,000 people (yikes, that doesn't jive with all the Trump hate) and the impressive facilities. In short, Liberty looked and showed national class on national TV.

Also thought Trumps message was well done, inspiring to a graduating group going into the world. Never give up and persevere - great advice and no better person to represent that position in the moment. Compare that with so many of these other speakers who quote stupidity like Will Farrell at USC, nonsense such as Tim Kaine at VCU or the hate and division as Pocahontas chucked out at UMass.

Well done, LU.

Big Sky does not have the exemption because they were never FBS.
WAC
MVC
Southern
Southland
CAA
OVC
Big West
All have the most teams that were FBS at one time. I think those would get the in crowd.
