meh.

interim AD and only for 2 months then went to work in the presidents office. If she did her part to facilitate meetings between the appropriate parties and then was replaced, is it really her fault for not following up?

Once again, Delaware pops up:

If there is a civil lawsuit, this will not be pretty.

Agree. Failure to monitor and disclosure of confidential information are not minor accusations.

On a side note, what on earth was Delaware paying its women's volleyball coaches if they could afford four homes?

What's the problem? Huge allegedly broke confidentiality...I don't see how this could be taken as a big deal. Won't impact Huge or W&M in the least.

Not good for her reputation/image. Shows she has no back bone if in fact she either a) lied to the girls or b) let the coaches run her over.

Agreed, it won't impact William and Mary at all.

RE: Your new AD named in Delaware scandal
There seem to be two issues. That she told the students it was a safe space, she'd fix it, and then told the coaches; and then the issue of bringing the coaches to a meeting the students thought would be just with AD admins about their scholarship.

On the first, if she says she's going to fix it, she has to talk to the coaches about it, or it can't be fixed. If I'm a student I'm aware of the fact that if I go and someone says they'll fix it, odds are they're going to have to confront who the issue is with.

On the second one, I don't know the legal aspects of this stuff, but I believe the coaches have a say over who gets their scholarships, so leaving them out of a conversation could cause some issues. At the time I believe she was acting AD, and that acting moniker carries all kinds of issues about the actual power you have and what decisions you can and can't make. Not trying to make an excuse, but her hands may have been tied on that one.

I agree this is a minor blip, and her "no comment" was the best answer (in my completely non-legal, non-expert opinion). I don't see any positive from a comment, and that just gives it more life.

This is an alleged abuse story.

This stuff is an issue in today's college sports world:

Athletics directors get fired over stuff like this if not properly handled:

RE: Your new AD named in Delaware scandal
I have to agree with NJ Alum here. At a minimum, Huge seems to have missed the significance of the allegation. This isn't a minor blip. And what appear to be at a minimum misrepresentations to the student-athletes don't help. Interesting that the new AD moved extremely quickly after arriving at UD to get rid of the coaches.

We do nothing. If mistakes were made, lessons were learned hopefully.

There's another angle here that can't be ignored.

Female AD, female athletes, female coaches (allegedly in a relationship):

This is really tricky stuff for administrators, male or female.

Sit back and wait for Delaware to inevitably settle this by writing people a check before it ever gets to trial.

I have made many mistakes and have learned from most of them. i will assume that this incident was a learning opportunity for our AD and that she learned something from it that will give her insight to better navigate similar difficult situations going forward.

This happens more often than one might think. At times, it seems bizarre. It's kept under the rug for pc reasons.
