AState up 4-1 on App in the 9th. Our Sunday starter and his famous 8 ERA threw 6 innings of 1 run ball today. Doesn't leave much confidence in App's offense. Win moves us into a tie with Troy for 6th place in the conference.

Puts us into next weekend where we will look to destroy UTA's fictional At Large Chances.

This team is completely pathetic this weekend 5 errors in the first game of the doubleheader can't play defense at all...complete reversal after a 9 gane winning streak

Chants win 11-8. Withstood a late rally to take the rubber game, winning the series 2-1

I'm seeing a lot of stuff I didn't expect: errors, hit by pitches, base-running, even poor coaching decisions.

Credit goes to UTA in some cases, especially on defense, double especially on the left side, but all those mistakes were unexpected, at least by me, for the top team in the SBC coming in.

Just need a game. Keep us within range of Troy. Also could use the usual Jonesboro winds blowing in hard all weekend. You guys haven't played here in like 20 years, so hopefully the park confuses you.

I was all ready to quip how age is starting to effect you when I remembered that our series was in Mississippi two years ago. So instead I'll follow it with our last series in Jonesboro was in 1986, over 30 years ago, not 20. I ran out of fingers and toes to count...

Yeah, I remember the Mississippi series well. We used a JUCO team's field, and they were at home that weekend, so we had to playa Sunday DH. Both radio crews had issues because JUCO fields weren't exactly designed with broadcasts in mind. We lost 2 of 3. It snowed 4 or 5 inches in Jonesboro that Friday and stayed below freezing for 3 straight days, was absolutely miserable.

I sort of guessed on the 20 year thing. I knew we had played a few times OOC since the last Southland series in Jonesboro and didn't want to hear about some random OOC series in the 90's that I didn't know about.

You'll be glad to know we've not made a single improvement on our park since 1986 outside of adding lights. (I'm exaggerating a little, but not much)

We'll just dust off the highlight reel from that '86 series, which UTA fell in both games (our guys, who weren't alive, are just burning to avenge that series loss).

Interesting note, UTA and Arkansas State have met nine years in between the 27 years when both were members of the same conference. Those ten games all happened in February and were in DFW (one year was at La Grave Field in Fort Worth when Clay Gould renovations went past scheduled completion).
