RE: Alumni House Expansion Funded
They will close the Alumni House next spring (2018) when ground is broken and construction begins. It will be closed for the entire construction period and staff will all move to other buildings around campus.
Building is supposed to be completed and ready by school year 2019-20.
Plans include expanded Alumni House parking lots since they will have facilities that can handle events (weddings, parties, other functions) of 800 guests. This may actual help football Saturday parking since doubtful if there would be other big events on a Tribe football Saturday.
Where they put these lots I have no idea.

RE: Alumni House Expansion Funded
I was on campus for the first time in a few years last week and was shocked to see the amount of construction. There really isn't much more room for expansion that doesn't involve tearing down existing structures. The only spots for additional buildings seem to be the recreational soccer fields (one by Busch, the other across from the frat complex).

I'm still having a hard time processing the big gap next to Swem where Millington used to stand.

Why would people NOT get married on beautiful October Saturdays?
From the renderings, there is quite a bit of paved outdoor space, so hopefully that is just turned into a huge alumni tailgate 'pay-to-play' area. Im not a planner, so it works out well for people like me...

I used to get very confused when I'd see buildings on Barksdale.

When I got married, the Alumni House had the schedule (dates, not opponents) almost a year ahead of time. You can get married in the Chapel, but if you want the Alumni House you have to schedule around football.

I married my Tribe bride in the Wren Chapel and had our reception off campus. The Alumni House had a slot for us but they demanded a ridiculous price. That was in early August so there wouldn't have been a conflict with football.

We also looked at the Alumni House, for our Reception, but also thought the rental price was unnecessarily high.

I still think that was a terrible decision.

With Purdue's acquisition of Kaplan, going online big time, why not Wm and Mary mine this jackpot? They could make a ton of money and finance most anything, even COA.

In terms of not having a beautiful field, I agree. In terms of saving the cost of upkeep of the beautiful field and increasing enrollment, I understand the decision, grudgingly.
