Didn't find it's man in spring but the two incumbents transfer out one realizing he probably isn't it and the other got cross-ways with the coaches. Basically didn't settle on a QB in fall finally defaulting to an experienced grad transfer who got the hook in game in three, the juco comes in drops his first game and then goes 8-1 after that. The RB's are back and the one power back who missed most of the season is back. Despite not starting the first three games of the season, Hansen had the 6th most passing yards for a season in AState history and tied for 4th most TD passes in a season with some guys named Ryan Aplin (2011) and Fredi Knighten (2015), yards per game average is 6th best season, 19 TD's vs 8 picks.

I'm not sure where the pessimism about the AState offense is coming from.
After watching the scrimmage Saturday it may take 3-4 games ,maybe, but there is no doubt their offense will be better in 2017 than 2016.

They have basically all their skill players back, should get much better play from the QB position, and they have upgraded the talent on their OL as much as they did on the DL between Anderson's first year and second.

Even though they are replacing some outstanding talent, the defense will probably not take as long to gel. They just keep improving the over all speed and athleticism on that side of the ball, and that will continue to be the case in 2017.

Better hope they beat themselves because if they don't beating them will again be a huge challenge for any SBC team.

They just play the odds every year with no real knowledge of our roster. It just seems logical that if you keep picking the Red Wolves to not win, you will eventually be correct.

I also think Texas St. will be better, but I'm thinking "better" as in 4-8 , not "better" as in bowling.

From what I saw and heard Saturday we probably won't improve our record this year. At the most we will be more competitive and not get blown out every game.

Unless our freshman class has some ballers that can contribute immediately.

I feel the same just from what I see on paper. I think 2019 will be a better year to get closer to 6-6. The team is too young, lack depth, and breaking in a new QB.

Yes he will unfortunately unless we plan to buyout him and the OC.. or our OC gets the HC gig which is unlikely.

GS stock is a push. If you have it dont sell it as you know we will be back but in the short run I would not touch it.

Honestly I think a buy stock is a team that is cheap now but you think will be a lot better. I dont think App, Troy or ArkSt are going to get a lot better they are already good. If I am buying it would be GSU as it is as probably cheap as you can buy and the only direction is the same or up no real risk of loss.

Huh?

Yeah that was a dumb comment as we just hired the GT QB coach who ran the option as an OC at Cal Poly...

I'm sorry but Connor Manning is no better than Arkansas State, Idaho, or App State's QB at throwing and one of these talking heads claims, with defiance, that he is the most gifted passer in the conference.

Per NFL Draft Scout, Matt Linehan is the 6th rated QB for the NFL Class of 2018.

If you mean by being right, thanks.

Of course anyone that has seen their team this spring knows what I just said is true and they are going to be better on offense next year....at some point. They are just bigger, stronger, and more talented than the 2017 bunch........especially in the OL, and their top two QB's are a lot farther along than they were last year.

Actually all their skill players are a lot further long and they return almost all of them.

While they are expecting an influx of very talent players in June that will help insure there is no drop-off on the defense, they were still very fast, very athletic and aggressive Saturday. They just reload.

I do think Troy had a chance if they had played them early or at their place, but it just did not work out that way.

Maybe 2018 will be different. Scratch that they return everybody in 2018.

I'd agree he's be correct most of the time. And we will probably be decent again this year. I prefer being humble myself. Makes it easier to eat that crow when things don't work out. I guess that's all I'm saying. My apologies to SI. He can say what he wants. Me, I'll wait until we win another championship before I get cocky this year.

Absolutely.

She approved me continuing as a mod on another site and knows this a good place to visit from time to time for info related to A-State and UALR.

As far as some posters not liking my post that A-State will again have a good chance of winning all their SBC games, she does not understand why, but does understand that the posters on the forum I moderate really want my best guess.

My best guess is that A-State will have a good chance of going undefeated in SBC play in 2017.
