good points, '79.

I awoke and first thing going through my mind: Why does a player transfer half way through summer semester?

The only two things come to mind: A sudden need to be closer to home (e.g., sick parent, etc.), or maybe being beaten out by a new recruit. I know nothing about Green.

Can Minnie play a few minutes as a back up center?

We are dangerously thin at center.

No Baylee practiced with Minnie all last year. We have the ultra thin Nobles as well. I think we try to pick up an immediately eligible back up center and if a senior we would have 3 scholies for the loaded Michigan 2018 class.

I'm trying to figure out why John Bowler, a coach in the NCAA ranks and alum of our program, is the one with the breaking news.

Did John apply to be an Assistant?

I think he is the former coach of Steele, maybe keeping tabs on his player. Also Jim Boone is the coach of Delta St University, and I believe Bowler is still friends with his former coach.

According to Matt Cline, Thompson has added about 25 pounds since the off season through strength and conditioning. Now if we could only find a backup.

Yes, that was the big story is what JT4 learned by going through the NBA evaluation route and what he needed to do.

He needed to get stronger and also needs more self control on the court.

Right I make a comment over a year ago saying the NBA numbers for a forward at 6'10 220 is one number and there is another number for one 6'10, 245, all things being equal guess which one is higher.

Here is the Tweet on JT4:

If JT4 flexes those guns (biceps), he might get Teed up in warm ups... Not an ounce of fat on him, either.

Do with this what you will, but Richaun Holmes was ~245 lbs. when he was drafted

Good point.

Holmes is having a decent NBA career and he wasn't a prototype NBA prospect.

Not a stretch to compare JT4 and Holmes.

Holmes is a better athlete and defender than JT4, which is why he's in the league, but Thompson has a much more polished offensive game. If James were 2 inches taller, he'd be an NBA lock. But there isn't a huge market for 6'10 centers who aren't "jump out of the gym" athletes. His ticket to the league would be working hard on his defense and his jump shot.

I think an equally big aspect of Thompson putting on weight is the necessity to anchor at the 5 this year. With Steele gone, he will have to play the majority of his minutes at center, correct?

I'm assuming he just wants to bulk up as a center.

James Thompson is on the Adidas Nations roster for the event in Houston this weekend, along with some pretty big names. It is a relatively important event in the scouting circles, and DraftExpress is covering it. Thomas Wilder is also in there.

Yep, Wilder is a senior. BTW, old time EMU fans should remember this guy: Dan Hoff, DOBO at WMU.
