RE: Keatts to NC State
I hope you hire a coach that keeps the pressure on the rest of the conference to pick their programs up to stay competitive. Keatts was good for the whole conference and you could see evidence of the conference as a whole on the verge of being better because of him. Just want to wish you luck in hiring another very good coach.

About half of the fans are welcoming and the other half are either unimpressed or flat out punks. Trashing Keatts' resume and our conference.

One response says "don't bother unpacking... you have quite a legacy to fill."

What a bunch of dolts.

I literally hate NC State now. They absolutely don't deserve a good coach.

Keatts could not turn it down for that much money, but NC State is a bad job as far as the ACC goes. No patience there, so if he doesn't get rolling fast, they will be ready to look again. Would have thought it would be Keatts or Miller and was hoping for the Seahawks it would be Miller. Keatts did a tremendous job.
He is a great coach. The only question is whether NC State is the best job for him. But, $$ was just too much.
Hope both Bryce and Cacok stay for you guys. Hopefully, the 1 year sit out provision and more importantly, loyalty to the Hawks keeps the team together. I hate the Pack, too. The legacy for State was 30 years ago with Valvano and maybe one/two decent years with Sendek. David Thompson played before some of us were even born. They are so far behind Duke and UNC they are not even the little brother at this point. If they give Keatts time, he will be successful.

Thanks for all the obvious like we haven't already thought about it.

Who knows. Maybe Whitman will come south so he can actually put one of those little blue NCAA patches on his jersey for once.

Cheers!

As far as the hire between Archie and Keatts, I think Keatts is the better hire.

Marshall on the other hand would have been a Homerun for state.

RE: Keatts to NC State
Keatts will do fantastic at NC State. He is going to DEMAND all his players be in the best shape in the country. Players love to play the brand of basketball he will bring to NCSU. He is the best I've ever seen with alumni, donor, fans, players, recruits, etc., and that will translate to excitement throughout the program and recruiting at a very high level.

I don't anticipate immediate moves to ACC championships like we had at UNCW in the CAA, but his teams will win games they haven't in the past, and they will compete in the top 1/3 of the conference.

Although I haven't been very active, I've followed this board and CAA Zone before it for over a decade. I know we're all feeling bruised, but I don't think this post is a good representation of the way UNCW fans should act.

Relax. CoastGuard is 'one of them'. He lives near William and Mary and goes to a lot of their games. He's also met a lot of their posters. It's all good.

RE: Keatts to NC State
Keatts gets a 6 year deal at 2.2 million per year. Talk about a coach who got on the fast track for a payday. NCAA coaching isn't a bad gig if you have the background to get into it!

Haha!

I knew that might pull you out of hiding.

This just made the conference a bit more even for now.

We are hearing Brad Brownell will get let go today and Clemson will hire Will Wade. If so I could see Brad going back to UNCW. He had much love for your school. Just rumors but much chatter about it. Would be great for both schools. Guess we will find out in the next 24-48 hours. Good luck either way.

Keatts to NC State
I'd be shocked, surprised, and honestly a little disappointed if that were true. I think there is between 0 and 1% chance he'd be back here.

Keatts created a style of play here and everything we've heard from our administration is that they want to continue it. Brownell, while a great coach and we all love him... does not fit that style. At all.

Agree. Hope that ship has sailed along with that style of play.

Good luck in your search. We need you guys to get another great coach so the young coaches in this conference can continue to build this league at a high rate.

I think he can do a great job at NCSU as well...BUT let's face it, he was out-game coached by Tony Bennett on Thursday. I have perceived him to be stubborn about certain things, and that stubbornness has come back to bite him from time to time. Sticking to man to man when UVA was driving to the basket at will probably cost UNCW a game we should have won. Bennett adjusted, Keatts would not.

At $2.2 million per year, watch how short their patience is with that....

Their fan base in known for being rational and patient. That shouldn't be a problem.

That's something we can't do anything about anymore. We have to pull ourselves up by our boot straps. Together. Then continue to support and play Seahawk basketball.
