Blame Rosemary DePaolo, Mike Capaccio, and Kelly Mehrtens for what Benny Moss and then Buzz Peterson walked into. Under Chancellor Leutze and Peg, none of that mess would have ever happened.

Meanwhile, Buzz deserves credit for cleaning up the program from the APR stuff, and leaving it in a better place than he found it. We didn't win under him, but he set the table for Keatts.

We're all in agreement that Keatts did great things here on the court. But he shouldn't be in the "ring of honor" with guys like Wainwright and Brownell.

Also, there are two sides to every story. There is quite a bit i'm aware of that you may not be aware of based on the treatment of Keatts as he left as well. So let's not pretend we have a good guy v. bad guy situation.
Did you ever stop for a second here and think that maybe some of us are aware of somethings you are not?

in your "facts" comparing the two situations you used CB's recruits to count as depth, that's laughable.

And did you ever stop to think there are some facts I am aware of that you are not? Has it ever crossed your mind that maybe there was a reason Keatts felt less than obliged to do everything he could for UNCW as he left? Or, is he just a bad person who for no reason decided he shouldn't help UNCW as he exited?

And I also counted Benny's recruits his first year. What's your point?
My point is without CBs guys you have ZERO depth. I wish we could take both teams, play a head to head game and i'd gladly bet you my car keys. I'll digress.

I don't care what you think may have happened to him behind the scenes, if he's truly the good guy you paint him to be you DON'T do those things! Especially to the university that gave you your shot, and that SHOT made you millions. Take the high road, walk away on a high note don't burn any bridges and move on. Instead he decided to be an A-hole, swing his junk around and burn bridges.
Lets just stop, we get it, he's gawd to you, clearly he can do no wrong even when the picture is CLEARLY printed right in front of you. according to you, he didn't even have to use I40, he walked on water all the way to Raleigh!

r. For the last time, feel free to ignore my updates of his success at NCSU if offends your sensibilities. This board isn't a safe space, sorry.
Maybe you should take your own advice, you seem to get offended anytime anyone says anything remotely negative towards your boy, even if some of it IS common sense stuff.

You can say what you want. My problem is with personal attacks on someone with no evidence but "feelings" about a person. I was critical of Keatts when he coached and refused to play zone. I was critical of playing Bryan over Chuck last year. I am critical of McGrath refusing to play zone or press. But I have NEVER attacked them personally or questioned their character as is being done to Keatts. That's where I have a problem. There is too much information outside of you or me to judge people based on what you hear or have been told. And, as i've said, there are two sides to this story.

Bridges tend to get burnt when you have negotiated another job before you job is done at your current employer

It's a nice car, and i'd have your crapper on my driveway too. You can only play with 5 guys so long.

I hope that we all agree that we don't need to claim Calipari. I'm all for Brownell, Donlon, Justus (somehow make them specific to Joel and ignore any relation to Cal), Byington, and even Keatts updates. We probably need more Marty Jarmond/BC updates too, and if anyone knows what Oleg is up to, I'm listening.

Not that anyone cares, but my connection to and affinity for Wainwright and Brownell will always be stronger than for Keatts. To me, they were more invested in UNCW than Keatts the same way a four-year player is more meaningful to a program than a OAD guy. Both are important and contribute, but the commitment is different. That's not a dig at Keatts, either...just one guy's perspective.

Rodney Terry's Fresno State team is sporting a 21-9 record and 11-6 conference record. Good enough for third place behind Nevada and Boise State. He has won 20 or more games in 4 of his last 5 seasons. His salary is $500,000+. Two of assistant coaches are Jerry Wainright and Byron Jones.

Billy Donlon left his assistant coaching job at Michigan to be assistant to good friend Chris Collins at Northwestern.
Which means he's also moved home.

I get your point to some extent, but Wainright stayed longer because his record was good but not great consistently. Good conference records with ok overall records. He had four good seasons in eight years, and left for Richmond after his third good season that ended in an NCAA tournament. It also worked out better because we continued with his assistant, Brownell, without so much as a search. He only stayed four years as well. The only reason Keatts wasn't here long is he had three really good seasons in a row and we looked really good against two top notch ACC teams in the middle of ACC country come NCAA tournament time. So he was well known in North Carolina. I kind of wish he could have had a mediocre season thrown in there to extend his time here, but what can you do? I pretty sure Brownell and Wainright would have left in year three with a $2.2 million dollar offer on the table, don't you?

Basically. I mean, this thread is good and bad, IMO. It's definitely a topic that all of us sit squarely on one side of the fence or the other on. There's not much in between. As long as everyone keeps it on point with no personal attacks and if 'hoops can stop talking about man parts... we're fine.
