It's the glaring weakness of this team.

Absolutely agree ... was literally just thinking this ... probably because I spent the UNCW game wishing Toews played for us and imagining what a difference that’d make ... Luke is improving but he won’t be in the offensive end what we need to really capitalize on next year and Thornton isn’t a quick penetrator

David Cohn is dearly missed. I just wish Tony played Luke little more last year.

Playing Loewe last year wouldn't have mattered. He's light years away from what Cohn did and he won't ever get to that level.

Luke is an upgrade over David defensively and a significant downgrade offensively from David. Given Luke’s style of play, even as Luke gets better, I don’t envision either of those things changing. Leadership wise, Luke can grow but we need a PG that is confident enough right now to lead on the floor and has enough swagger to lead In late game scenarios even with the other seniors out there next year.

With VV eligible next year, we need a penetrator who can score but also drive and kick to shooters on the perimeter like VV and MM, and drive and dish to slashers like Owens, Audige, Justin, and even Nathan.

Strange with his skillset that, other than an Air Force Academy offer back in May, all of his offers have come in October after transferring to Brewster, including Belmont on Oct 17th (presuming they already knew at that point that Cozart was moving toward WKU.)

Sent from my SM-N910V using CSNbbs mobile app

Meeks had offers from UIC and Furman before the Air Force offer. He had a tweet pinned to the top of his Twitter page about the Furman offer for a couple of months.

His recruiting cooled after an apparent foot injury this spring. He was wearing a walking "boot" while on the sideline in videos of his AAU team this summer. They normally use those for people with broken feet or ankles or tendon or ligament damage.

@Andrew_Slater tweets:

“6’8” Zane Meeks @MeeksZane of @BrewsterHoops is strongly considering a postgraduate year and will play this spring / summer with @KCRunGMC on UA circuit.

Belmont; Bradley; Dartmouth; Columbia; Nebraska; Wisconsin, William & Mary, and Holy Cross have been in touch”

Per twitter, it sounds like Tony is actually going to see Phillips. His team moved up to #6 in the USA Today Super 25 ranking this week. He was, also, recently offered by Towson and Elon.

2019 Men's Basketball Recruiting
I’m officially hoping we sign Shykeim Phillips ... he would really elevate our whole team and offense with his ability to penetrate, kick, finish, and run the break ... getting him to get out and run with JP, Chase, LJ, Nate and Cameron on the break and even in an uptempo UNC style running even after made baskets offense and getting him to penetrate and kick to VV and MM spotting up in the half court or penetrate and dish to Nate as the big man helps or a slashing Chase, LJ, or JP would be awesome and a huge elevation of our whole offense.

I endorse this message. I've long advocated for a speedy, athletic guard to put pressure on defenses. It would open up opportunities for everyone.

Shane Mettlen tweets:

“Jayvis Harvey, a 6-3 Class of 2019 combo guard from Durham, N.C., was here with the #JMU men’s staff for the first half. Was a Radford commitment at one time, but getting interest from the Dukes, William & Mary, Northeastern among others.”

Harvey was at JMU this weekend for an official and will visit Hofstra next week. To clarify his offers he received offers from Hofstra, JMU, Northeastern and others before committing to Radford; EKU is the only team to offer him since decommitting.

He started following Austin Shaver after Justin Byerly’s original tweet about the Tribe checking in on him.

RE: 2019 Men's Basketball Recruiting
Tony reiterated at his Anna's luncheon this past Tuesday that the search for a transfer may go well into the spring. It appears that some kind of transfer, graduate or non-graduate, is what they are looking at.

He also talked about incoming freshman recruit, Cameron Brown. Called him very strong,
a very good defensive player, terrific rebounder. Said his shooting has improved throughout the season at Eleanor Roosevelt H.S. in DC. Has had several games where he's hit five three-pointers.

One other note of interest for Tribe fans...Tony says that Omar is tearing it up over in Europe;
is a star over there.
