AState gets its 20th win by beating Georgia State 78-67

First time we've won 20 games since the 90's

Number 15 for Georgia State looks like a high energy player with good skills. He is going to do something spetacular in the game, whether it be good or bad, it will be spetacular. If he could calm down a little and use his head he'd be pretty good.

Clayton for Georgia State might be the worst Free Throw shooter I've ever seen though...and I've seen a full year of 38 percent Tomas Bruce.

UTA has earned a share of the regular season title with a win over Troy, avenging a earlier in the season. Now 23-6 on the year.

Georgia Southern just lost to Little Rock, so you've clinched the NIT bid. Congrats

Tourney Seeding Scenarios:

1. UTA

2 Seed: AState/GS/GSU/Texas State (AState clinches two seed by winning out)

3 seed: AState/GS/GSU/Texas State (Texas State and GS have inside track)

4 seed: (See 2 and 3 seeds) (Texas State has inside track, otherwise GS/GSU loser gets it)

5 seed: The Unfortunate team who didn't get the 2-4 seeds.

Coastal has inside track for 6. ULL and Troy are battling for the right not to play UTA game two. UALR/USA are battling for 9/10. App and ULM are "battling" for 11/12

Last game in Strahan Coliseum with "the wall".

(Hopefully) A 20-win season, impressive freshman coming back next year, the wall coming down, Kaspar's 'stache is looking good as ever....the future is finally bright for TXST basketball.

Hard to fathom that we were projected to be the worst team in the conference before the season.
Kaspar has really turned this program around. I can't wait to see what he can do with another year or two.

No he has not. It has taken four seasons for Kaspar to get his first winning season. The bar has to be set higher than that. Our RPI is 196. We had non-conference losses to UTSA, UTRGV and Texas A&M Corpus Christi. That is not good for recruiting in Texas. I think Kaspar is a very good coach and he seems to get the most out of the talent he has, but to really turn this program around he needs to recruit better talent.

Oh geez. WTH is with you people? I can't even give the program a little praise without a pessimist retort?

What part of, "this program was a massive dumpster fire for decades" don't you understand? What Kaspar inherited here was beyond bad, it was toxic program as well.. from staff and players to the ALUMS. The team has improved every year since he took over. YES he has turned this program around. No, I'm not upset that it took Kaspar four seasons to get this team winning some games. I know how God awful we were under Davalos.

I didn't say that we've arrived. I didn't say that we are a great team yet, I didn't say there isn't alot of room for improvement but achieving our best record in almost 20 years with alot of young talent SHOULD say something about the progress made. Even to you never happy old-timer alums who have hated on all TXST sports for so long that you don't know how to do anything else.

I'd bet dollars to donuts that TXST plays in a postseason tournament.

Though part of that is choosing to play in one. We're not entirely sure on this end if we'll accept any tournament outside of NCAA or NIT.

RE: SBC Baskertball Action for Saturday 2/25 and Monday 2/27
Boko,

I am happy that we finally are going to have a winning season in men's basketball at Texas State. But Kaspar hasn't done anything yet. He inherited a mess and won 37 games the first three seasons, 7 of those against non-D1 schools. He has never won a non-conference game against a school ranked in the top 200 of RPI at Texas State. His best non-conference win is a victory over Lamar (RPI of 224). This team was picked to finish last in the Sun Belt and Kaspar beat the expectations. Congrats to Kaspar for that and for the first winning season in 14 years. But we are a long way from where we need to be.

Stephen F. Austin has had 11 straight winning seasons, eight under Kaspar and three under Brad Underwood. That is why he was hired. To end decades of underachieving, decades of crummy basketball. Texas State has the resources to win. I want Kaspar to turn Texas State basketball around permanently. I want what Kaspar started and accomplished at Stephen F. Austin.

The recruiting has been quiet to this point. I am hoping that Kaspar comes up with some last minute magic to keep moving forward.
