Maybe Ehsan isn't a bad coach, but Haase is some kind of super human coach to get what he got out of this team.

I've got to think that Nick Norton's leadership on the floor meant a lot more than any of us ever realized.

Sure, we all knew he was an important piece, but there just doesn't seem to be another floor leader on this entire team.

Or maybe Nick Norton and Robert Brown just made him look good.

Perhaps you're right and I don't doubt how important Nick is to this team. The most concerning thing I've seen during Ehsan's first year is that it seems like we've made zero improvement from game 1 until now.

The average score of our past 8 games is 75-73 with the average RPI of our opponent being 262. 4 home games, 4 road. 4-4

It's hard to believe our defense is this bad. ODU knows how to play defense. Nothing we had offensively wasn't contested.

RE: ODU game thread.
ODU shot 66% for the game, and 50% from behind the arc.

IMHO, our 3-point shooting is our greatest weakness. Lee was our only player to make a 3 tonight.

And yet we have had games this season where we shot lights out. Hell, we broke the record for the best FG % ever. It's all mental.
A team's talent means nothing if they are in a funk. This team needs a psychiatrist more than they need a coach.

RE: ODU game thread.
...and MB I totally agree. The February tankage is just as much a function of the team's psyche and buy-in to Ehsan than the actual Xs and Os coaching. I'm not sure what to make of it. Ehsan doesn't seem to mind losing as much as Haase did. I used to make fund of Haase's despondent tone after an ass-whipping, but at least you knew it hurt him. I felt like I was more pissed off in San Antonio last Saturday than our coaching staff was.

Get ready to play day 1 in the conference tournament. I would've bet a lot of money at the beginning of the year against that statement. This is terrible. Eshan has wasted his most talented team he will have here.

Not quite... Coach Gene had a 22pt loss, but it was at Civic Center.

In addition to the best FG% ever, it was two weeks ago that we had our biggest point differential in a conference game. How does a team have the biggest margin of victory in a conference game and two weeks later have the 5th worse loss in its building.

I know he's a 1st year head coach, but I'm starting to wonder about Ehsan. I haven't given up on him by any means, but color me unimpressed so far. Losing Norton obviously is a big blow, but we still have too much talent on this team to be playing this way. Haase was good at squeezing out everyone's best effort and I haven't seen Ehsan be able to do anything remotely close to that.

Yep, to Providence coached by the current coach of Louisville, led by a guard who hit 35 points and is now the head coach of the Oklahoma City Thunder.

All stakeholders are to blame. We are all owners in this...particularly because we strong-armed Fumbles into this hire. And remember that Fumbles will do nothing to make our programs better on his own.

X's and O's are easy. It takes an experienced coach to deal with the mental psyche of a team.

I don't think the loss of Norton is the cause of all these losses, but I do think something in this team gave up when Norton went down and Furman came out and started hitting from everywhere. They lost their confidence that night and they haven't found it again except in spots. Ehsan just doesn't have the experience to deal with that type of issue. And that isn't a fault against him. it comes with time.
