OT: UAB/Tech fight last night
I don't know if anyone saw this because it was an ASN game, but it was quite surreal to watch unfold

Tech player shoves UAB player, UAB player punches Tech player. All hell breaks loose, and the entire teams and coaching staff's minus two UAB players who just sat there run out on the court to protect their player.

Fight ended quick, but College basketball rules are you can't leave the bench during a fight, it's an automatic ejection. Thus, the entire Tech Bench, and assistant coaching staff were ejected, plus the player in the fight. Leaving the Bulldogs with 4 players. Meanwhile, the entire UAB bench, support staff, and assistant coaching staff minus the 2 players who did nothing, were ejected. Blazers finished with 6 players.

Amazingly in 6 minutes of 4 on 5 basketball, Tech somehow outscored UAB by 4 points.

RE: OT: UAB/Tech fight last night
The two UAB players did leave the bench. They didn't leave the bench immediately and didn't get caught. UAB was smart enough to move the melee to the La Tech side of the court so when the refs looked at the replay, they only saw the empty La Bench, not the empty UAB bench.

As far as getting outscored, it was obvious that the remaining UAB players were not taking advantage of the majority, probably on orders of the coach to not run the score up. They turned down an easy layup as time run out plus other opportunities.

I doubt they were "smart enough" to move a melee. Those things tend to go where they want to go.

Never much cared for the bullpups in any sport or their fans. Personal experience has never been good with them.

What on earth happened to the assistants on both teams whose primary job in a fight is to keep players on the bench, so this situation doesn't happen?

It was a joke.

Apologies. Didn't pick up on that.
