Accreditor Examines Alabama Goverance
https://www.insidehighered.com/news/2017...governance

Quote:The agency that accredits Southern colleges and universities is scrutinizing the Governor Robert Bentley’s role at the head of Alabama university boards, pushing back on what it sees as powers that are too concentrated and potentially conflicted.

I say there is conflict of interest if you have a sitting Governor as an elected official and also at the same time as a board member for University of Alabama. For higher education money? He could give Alabama a bulk of the money while Auburn and others could get less of the money for education funds.

Curious that they're interested in our boob-fondling boob of a gov, the only member of the UAS board answerable to the voters, but not in the rest of the Board which appoints its own members.

RE: Accreditor Examines Alabama Goverance
haha we all just got "David Stated" here

it is clear he did not even read the article

1. the article is about him being appointed to a newly created COMMUNITY COLLEGE BOR

2. SACS is so stupid that when they investigated the supposed "issue" they discovered that not only is the Gov the head of this new BOR, but he is also the head of the BOR for EVERY system in the state and that is a part of their state CONSTITUTION and has been so for a LONG LONG time

so for whatever reason they got all worked up about the newly created BOR for the community colleges and then discovered something else that has been going on a LONG TIME and now it is suddenly possibly some "issue"....even though it has apparently NEVER been an issue before

3. then there is the fact that David State can't seem to grasp that as the GOVERNOR he does not need to be a part of the BOR to try and take money from one university group and send it to another

the BOR is responsible for running the universities AFTER they get money and sure they lobby on behalf of the university system for funding, but the Gov could simply try and screw them and ignore their lobbying if he wanted to take funding from one and give it to another

then of course we get back to the FACT that the Gov has in fact been in these dual positions for ALL state university systems for a LONG TIME and had never attempted to do that

4. then as the article points out the Gov can be over ridden with a simple majority for any BOR decision he makes so unless a large number of other BOR members want to somehow screw their system he has no real way to do that

well other than the fact that he is the Gov and he would screw any university system through his power as the Gov IF HE DESIRED TO DO SO not through his position on the BOR

5. then there is the fact that the Gov APPOINTS THE BOR MEMBERS and while they probably need legislative approval if his desire was to somehow use the BOR to screw a university system he would be much better off by appointing BOR members that were in line with that idea....and again not to mention the fact that BOR members do not ALLOCATE SPENDING at the state level they are in charge of overseeing how the university system runs NOT how much money they get from the state

yes they ASK for the money they want. but they do not ALLOCATE it the Gov and legislature would and then the BOR deals with what they get

so even if the GOV stacked the BOR he would still have to use his power as the Gov to allocate funding how he desired and get the cooperation of the legislature

we should have learned from Chicago State not to listen to David State about how to run a university or on academic issues look what he is doing as the president of that disaster

RE: Accreditor Examines Alabama Goverance
Dr. Dr. Bentley's donors on the Board allegedly have been funneling cash to his girlfriend (among others, six figures to her husband for consulting help in purchasing billboard space to celebrate some bammer football thing). As stated, he has no means to move cash from one system to another (Alabama has multiple university systems, because stupidity).

He was under impeachment investigation, until Jeff Sessions was appointed federal AG. The state AG wants Sessions' seat, and suddenly the state AG says impeachment is off the table.

When is Chicago State going to announce it now has a football team? Will DavidSt be at the unveiling of the uniforms ceremony?
