Why on earth did the guy stop taking photos and slam the floor? This is maybe a once in a lifetime live photo opportunity, you are there to capture the game, and you just put your camera down?

Miss, and should survive the loss of Hawk. La. Tech will be at Middle Tennessee, which would be tough with their full team.
We are at home vs. Southern Miss on Saturday. If he gets two games, we are on the road at UTEP next week.

La Tech players clearly instigated it by pushing Baxter in the back, but Baxter needs to have more control than to escalate the situation with a punch.
I'm guessing Baxter is out Saturday, but what about everyone else?
If fans threw **** on the floor then wouldn't the floor need to be cleaned before play resumed?

Haha that was me, camera has a 30 shot buffer, I had to wait for the files to be written to the camera. I ended up with about 300 photos of the whole fiasco.

Even Hak was smiling at that.
It was Torrey Ward night, so while it was going on I stopped to think what he would of done in that situation... Torrey would have whupped some @ss.

One of the LA Tech assistants lost his bling and picketed it up. I think that was taken as something being thrown from the crowd. Nothing thrown from crowd that I saw. ASN should offer a retraction.
I don't understand the assistant coaches getting ejected. It appears to me that they are going onto the court to control the players, which I would think is what you would expect them to do.

Refs followed the rules to the letter which is only the head coach is allowed to leave the bench. May be a bad rule (but I have seen plenty of situations where assistants were part of the problem) but refs have to enforce the rule in place

Thanks for putting the floor slap into context. :-D
is it just me or is la tech fans literally the dumbest fan base? They want to "host" a tournament in Shreveport which is 70 miles away from their campus. MTSU has way better pitch than la tech does to get it away from Birmingham.

It will be hard for anyone else to compete with a UAB/Birmingham bid. Other locations have either 1) worse fan support, 2) geographic isolation, 3) other league tournaments, 4) lack 2 adequate facilities to support both men's and women's events. I'm not opposed to the tournament going elsewhere, but CUSA is going to do what makes the most sense.
With respect to the events of last night, I think another factor playing into this was the frustration on the part of our team overall at the lack of calls by the officials. We were getting fouled left and right, many of which weren't called. That creates a baseline level of frustration that was ready to boil over. Baxter shouldn't have reacted as he did (which he has now acknowledged), but the replays clearly show he wasn't the instigator.
Smallwood definitely stayed near the bench. Tosin was on the floor but it was after the "melee" Refs took a LONG time reviewing video to nail players who participated. They identified "#21 and the big redhead" (Smallwood still had his warmup jersey on-couldn't see his number) as the only guys still in the game for UAB.
