First we lose the pres, then dont win the MAC EAST or go to the MACC , do go to a bowl and lost, then we suffer through Jirsas futile attempt at basketball to suffer 22 losses in one season, next we lose Coach Pruett, now today the girls lose in the semi's 73-57

Damn Im ready for something good to happen , enough of the down times , maybe the girls tennis team or softball will come through...

We still have Marshall football to look forward to this year, no matter how bad things get, at least we have that, I mean 35 years ago Herd fans were not even sure if they would ever have that to look forward to again.

Things could be worse, we could be wearing blue and gold.

Speaking of Blue and Gold , did you happen to see the end of the game against Nova....I was switching between it and the UK / Tennessee game , pretty wild finish, UK toyed with Tenn and won by 15 or so.

Yep, the WVU/Nova game was pretty good, you've gotta love March Madness.

As far as Marshall goes...............i believe we are hitting what is called a growing pain..........we have grown so fast over the last 10 years, that its time to slow down and take a breath before the next growth spurt. If you follow the enonomy, its a pretty normal thing...........Im not down, and im not out.........this time is the time that the university HAS to go out and find NEW ways to grow support. Nothing more and nothing less.................I love challenges.

Pokey ...its either growing pains or we are in the first stages of stagnation..I for one am hoping we did not peak and what we saw from 1996 - 2002 was the best its gonna be. That has to be kept in mind consideing how the MAC caught up with us in football. As far as basketball heck we never came close to playing on the level of the MAC , so the move to CUSA for hoops is really gonna be a roller coaster.

We have never come back from the damage that Dwight Freeman did to the basketball program , too many short term coaches and then GW's lack of recruiting and now Jirsa, CUSA is gonna eat our lunch for sometime to come.

The mens minor sports or non rev as they are now called are in for some serious rough times , especially baseball

Womens hoops , softball , tennis , at least most dont feel we will be manhandled there , but only time is going to tell

Im not preaching doom and gloom here just stating the obvious to those who may have their eyes open..

This move is going to be expensive as well as eye opening to say the least and we all know funding was a major concern of Coach Pruett's , facilities and salaries. To keep up and surpass , those two areas cant lag , and they are lagging sorely at MU.

Agree with many of your points 77..........we definitely are lagging in funding for our new conquest. Thats why i stated we need to find new ways to raise money, support, etc......

but make NO mistake........our basketball team was VERY competitive in the MAC (even this year), plus we beat two top 25 teams this year (wvu in the polls and Miami in the RPI)......no titles to show for it, but i think our program is on a higher level than when were in the southern conference, but agreeably not where we should be.....i would've liked to see a conference title.

Our womens sports (partly due to title 9) and alot due to hiring quality coaches have surpassed many expectations..........overall we have grown before our own eyes..........can we keep up the current level? YES, but the question is, can we take the next step? Well, that goes back to your suggestion, is this stagnation or a growing pain? It depends on our leadership. I tend to think its a growing pain, because of ALL of the growth on campus, athletic and non-athletic. The new bio-center, med-school, etc, and new exposure in CUSA are going to bring in MANY new students.............this is nothing more than a growing pain in my opinion. If you think about it, last year was a bad year on and off the field for fooball, but a field goal here and one there, nobody would even be talking about a bad year. A win at OSU and everyones thought process is changed..........in reality, we are only a FG away from having a positive outlook to the current "worried" outlook............everyone worries when change occurs.......but change IS necessary when growth takes place.

Pokey ..you do make some good points , especially the field goal here and one there , a few things happen and we are at 8-4 again vs 6-6, 8-4 doenst worry people the way 6-6 does nor do most go back and check the scores to see how easily 8-4 might have been.

To me however the last vestage of a clear thinking mind will be gone soon as well when Kayo retires , now all things considered he might hang around a little longer..

The funding is what is killing us more than anything and here we are moving into an even more expensive league to boot.

I as you know am not sold at all on Jirsa, being here in the south I had a chance to see him in action at UGA and questioned then how he could take Tubbies team and go backwards with it , now hes done the same thing with a mediocre team that Greg White had, Im not in the mood to wait forever with a guy who has yet to show he can win regardless of the SEC or MAC and now upcoming CUSA.
